Adventurer Tim Cope, and his dog Tigon, in author talk at the National Library of Australia

Dogs aren't usually allowed into the National Library – no matter how much you beg!

But they're relaxing the rules slightly on Thursday for an author talk by adventurer Tim Cope, who will bring along his trusty furry companion, Tigon.

On October 20 at 6pm, Cope will talk about his epic adventure as he journeyed through the land of the nomads following in the footsteps of Genghis Khan's conquering armies.

His book, On the Trail of Genghis Khan: An Epic Journey through the Land of the Nomads, tells of his three-year, 10,000-kilometre journey on horseback.

Tigon is the dog Cope was given as a puppy during his first winter in Kazakhstan. Tigon survived the -40 degree temperatures and accompanied Cope during the epic journey - so probably also has a few stories to tell of his own.

Tickets are $15, which includes refreshments and book signing, from nla.gov.au.
