The driver of the other car contacted police when he allegedly failed to stop.
Mr Tripodi volunteered to answer police questions and arrived alone at Green Valley Police Station in Sydney's west on Wednesday afternoon, wearing a business shirt and jeans and holding a piece of paper.
He remained silent as he walked in to the police station.
Speaking to Nine News as he left, Mr Tripodi denied he was involved in the accident.
"This is a completely false allegation, I've explained it all to police," he said.
"There's not much more comment to make. Thank you."
He was not arrested or charged.
Seven News reported Mr Tripodi was initially contacted by police 15 minutes after the accident happened, when he was at home, and he told officers he knew nothing about it.
A spokeswoman from NSW Police confirmed officers had questioned a man over an accident, believed to be minor.
"Police have spoken to a man as part of their inquiries into a motor vehicle collision at Eastwood in July this year where details weren't exchanged," the spokeswoman said.
