Southeast Asia or Southeastern Asia is a subregion of Asia, consisting of the countries that are geographically south of China, east of India, west of New Guinea and north of Australia. The region lies near the intersection of geological plates, with heavy seismic and volcanic activity. Southeast Asia consists of two geographic regions:
Definitions of "Southeast Asia" vary, but most definitions include the area represented by the countries (sovereign states and dependent territories) listed below. All of the states except for East Timor are members of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). The area, together with part of South Asia, was widely known as the East Indies or simply the Indies until the 20th century. Christmas Island and the Cocos (Keeling) Islands are considered part of Southeast Asia though they are governed by Australia. Sovereignty issues exist over some territories in the South China Sea. Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan (a disputed region or nation), are considered as part of the Southeast Asia.Papua New Guinea has stated that it might join ASEAN, and is currently an observer.

Travel video about destination South East Asia. South East Asia is a fascinating, atmospheric and exotic world full of unspoiled nature and cultural treasures and a region in which both past and present live side by side and unite in a wonderful way. Myanmar, The Land Of Golden Pagodas: for decades the rulers of what was once known as Burma closed the country’s doors to the outside world and many of its fine religious sanctuaries were badly neglected but they have now gradually been given the respect that they deserve. Inlay Lake is home to the Inthas, one of the many tribes that came to Myanmar from various of South East Asia’s neighbouring countries. Throughout the area are the floating plantations of the Inthas on which tomatoes, cucumbers and beans are cultivated. A journey on the Sh...

The geo-political region known as Southeast Asia is home to at least 620 million people (2013 estimate) in 11 independent nation-states. It is a diverse region of diverse people who speak at least 1,253 living languages. A region with a history full of complexities and intersectionalities. I understand that within the context of U.S. racial politics the Southeast Asian identity is used in reference to the communities affected by the Vietnam War a.k.a. people from Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam. I also RESPECT that within certain context and spaces “Southeast Asian” only refers to the Southeast Asian Refugee communities. But in the broader context of our world and of the region itself, the definition of Southeast Asian should not be limited to just these three countries alone. Because in doing...

Oton Death Mask This golden death mask was discovered in the 1960’s in the Philipines and is believed to have been made from the late 14 century to the early 15 century AD. Nothing like this has been recovered previously from this country. This was most likely imported from China to the city of Oton which was a bustling trade hub at its time so ideas and traditions were easily shared to the citizens of this city. 8. Thanks for watching ! Don't forget like, subscribe and share if you like this! Homo floresiensis ("Flores Man"; nicknamed "hobbit" and "Flo") is an extinct species in the genus Homo. The remains of an individual that would have stood about 3.5 feet (1.1 m) in height were discovered in 2003 on the island of Flores in Indonesia. Partial skeletons of nine individuals have been recovered, including one complete cranium (skull). These remains have been the subject of intense research to determine whether they represent a species distinct from modern humans. This hominin is remarkable for its small body and brain and for its survival until relatively recent times (possibly as recently as 12,000 years ago). Recovered alongside the skeletal remains were stone tools from archaeological horizons ra...
