Wisteria (also spelled Wistaria or Wysteria) is a genus of flowering plants in the pea family, Fabaceae, that includes ten species of woody climbing bines native to the Eastern United States and to China, Korea, and Japan. Some species are popular ornamental plants. An aquatic flowering plant with the common name wisteria or 'water wisteria' is in fact Hygrophila difformis, in the family Acanthaceae.
The botanist Thomas Nuttall said he named the genus Wisteria in memory of Dr. Caspar Wistar (1761–1818). Questioned about the spelling later, Nuttall said it was for "euphony," but his biographer speculated that it may have something to do with Nuttall's friend Charles Jones Wister, Sr., of Grumblethorpe, the grandson of the merchant John Wister. (Some Philadelphia sources state that the plant is named after Wister.) As the spelling is apparently deliberate, there is no justification for changing the genus name under the International Code of Botanical Nomenclature. However, some spell the plant's common name "wistaria", and Fowler is decisively for the "wistaria" spelling.

Wisteria floribunda (common name Japanese wisteria) is a species of flowering plant in the pea family Fabaceae, native to Japan. Growing to 9 m (30 ft), it is a woody, deciduous twining climber. It was brought from Japan to the United States in 1830's. Since then, it has become one of the most highly romanticized flowering garden plants. It is also a common subject for bonsai, along with Wisteria sinensis (Chinese wisteria).
The flowering habit of Japanese wisteria is perhaps the most spectacular of the Wisteria family. It sports the longest flower racemes of any wisteria; they can reach nearly half a meter in length. These racemes burst into great trails of clustered white, pink, violet, or blue flowers in early- to mid-spring. The flowers carry a distinctive fragrance similar to that of grapes. The early flowering time of Japanese wisteria can cause problems in temperate climates, where early frosts can destroy the coming years' flowers. It will also flower only after passing from juvenile to adult stage, a transition that may take many frustrating years just like its cousin Chinese wisteria.

Plot: Monterey, California in the 1940's. Cannery Row - the section of town where the now closed fish canneries are located - is inhabited primarily by the down and out, although many would not move away even if they could. Probably the most upstanding citizen in the area is Doc, a marine biologist who earns a living primarily by collecting and selling marine specimens for research. He is a lost soul who is looking for his place in life. He is running away from his past, one where he is trying to make amends for what he considers a past wrong. But his current life isn't totally satisfying either. He believes that his recent collection of eight baby octopi will help him define that future in conducting research on their behavior. However, he is finding that research is not as easy as he had hoped, and that he is still feeling restless. Into the area comes drifter Suzy DeSoto. She too is a lost soul. With few job skills, she gets a job as what she calls a floozy in the local whorehouse, despite her openly headstrong demeanor not making her well suited to the work. Doc and Suzy are immediately attracted to each other, but theirs is a clash of personalities, despite each truly liking the other. The other residents of Cannery Row do their part for a Doc/Suzy coupling, not always with successful results. Doc and Suzy will first have to find their own lot in life before they can commit to someone else, be it the other or anyone else.

Wisteria, a beautiful, rampant, home wrecker. Spring is the time of year for us all to breathe in the light refreshing scent of Wisteria. The single season of this plant’s positive impact on the landscape should be noted, and the fast-growing vine given its due. There are few plants with the visual and olfactory presence of a Wisteria in full bloom, and for the two weeks that it does flower, one’s hat should be off and a smile should be well-displayed upon one’s face. Ah, but pity the unsuspecting homeowner who dares yield to the temptation of planting the creeping demon. This vigorous, athletic, dynamic and strenuous grower has been known to rip the shingles off of the roof, tear apart the soffits and undermine the siding of more than one innocent domicile. It will send underground ...

Tochigi Ashikaga Park : Wisteria Festival - あしかがフラワーパーク - 4K Ultra HD : Japanese people are very fond of flowers and nature in general, explaining why parks and flower parks are something pretty (no pun intended) common here. While the park is a delight all year long, it is around the beginning of May, and during the Wisteria Festival, that the place becomes incredibly popular, with the hours of traffic jams that come with it. Named Fuji (like Mt. Fuji,) the wisteria is loved by Japanese people, and this park is one of Japan’s best places to enjoy this gorgeous flower. You can also marvel at its many wisteria tunnels as well as its unique 100-year old fuji, with branches spanning out with an approximately 25m radius. See you to the birthday.
I could peel your naked beauty away.
Quiet will be here soon, but we have all afternoon.
You know, I think it's time to leave.
You know, I paint angels and see.
You know, I'm withered and ugly.
You know, I'll suck your energy.
I watch you picking flowers.
I think that I could sit and watch you for hours.
Wishing you could need me,
But it takes more than virgin beauty to feed me.
