David Tynan O'Mahony (6 July 1936 – 10 March 2005), better known as Dave Allen, was an Irish comedian.
Initially becoming known in Australia during 1963–64, Allen made regular television appearances in the United Kingdom in the later 1960s and 1970s. His career had a major resurgence during the late 1980s and early 1990s. At the height of his career he was Britain's most controversial comedian, regularly provoking indignation at his frequent highlighting of political hypocrisy and his disregard for religious authority. He also became known in the United States and Canada through broadcasts of his shows on television there.
Allen's act was typified by a relaxed, rueful and intimate style. He sat on a high bar stool facing his audience, smoking and occasionally sipping from a glass of what he always allowed people to assume was whiskey, but in fact was merely ginger ale with ice. Literally and metaphorically, he was a sober-minded man who, though sometimes appearing deliberately crotchety and irritable on stage, always gave off an air of charm and serene melancholy both in his act and in real life. Each day, he pored over newspapers, scribbling notes and ideas for his routines.

Wonderful biography of the late great BBC comedian Dave Allen. Family, friends, show clips, interview bits, Dave in his own words..and his own obit...a must for any fan...I am still...and will never forget him. This is for his fans, cos I enjoyed it and must share...
Highly regarded in Britain, Allen's comic technique and style had a lasting influence on many young British comedians. His targets were often figures of authority, his style was observational rather than gag-driven, and his language frequently ripe.

"Look at the castle full of crime
It's walls streaming blood,
As if a demon lived here"
Time is paying your debt off in the face of the world
Has already finished.
Look around, you are alone,
But there are spors of blood still on your hands
A dirty soul is soaked of crime
And it's still in your body
You feel inside you aren't alone
It's demon who leads you
He makes you hate yourself
Your face covered deep wounds
Is looking with disdain from a mirror
Black man in black dream with black redections
Life is a place that dream
You used to be obedient to that faith
But now this is hate to yourself and God
You struggle and destroy the crosses
But this everything is out of control
You have to wait when the anathema fills in complete
The visions of perish Christ at the cross
Makes you successful
Fallen God, fallen the world, only despair remains
Your crimes are waiting on the glory
