Learn more about Project Based Learning (PBL) at : http://bie.org/. The Buck Institute for Education commissioned the cutting-edge advertising agency, Common Craft, to create a short animated video that explains in clear language the essential elements of Project Based Learning (PBL). This simple video makes the essential elements of PBL come alive and brings to light the 21st Century skills and competencies (collaboration, communication, critical thinking) that will enable K-12 students to be college and work-ready as well as effective members of their communities.
I created this video overview of PBL for the teachers at my school. This year, 2015, we implemented a new program in the elementary school that uses this effective teaching approach. I also want to mention that the Kindergarten Driving Question was changed during the year. Instead we came up with, "How will you, as an engineer, create a Rube Goldberg machine that shows how you are special and unique?" It was still motivating and interesting, and required core knowledge, but also easier to understand and a little more open-ended.
Most awesome PBL Finals as of late. I guess the most star-studded finals too composed of amateurs currently making a mark in PBA now. Lots of stories about this series too - PJ Simon willing himself to play the series despite a busted quadriceps, Jojo Tangkay crying foul when he lost the MVP award to Simon, and Chino Trinidad threatening to resign due to controversy. Fash sealed the win thanks to two booming treys by Larry Fonacier. Among the notable names include: Fash: Wesley Gonzales, Rich Alvarez, Larry Fonacier, PJ Simon, Allan Salangsang, Welcoat: Willie Wilson, Paul Artadi, James Yap, Ervin Sotto, Jojo Tangkay, Marc Pingris, Mac Cuan,

In the wintercold I see the blood
clotting slowly in the snow
Unsung heroes cry in the night
may they die before dawn
Broken banners mourn fallen crowns
grieving swords lay all around
As the swansong touches the mountainside
unseeing eyes look at you
Can't you hear it
hear the sorrows vail
Oh, can't you see it
the newborn day
Impaled hearts welcome the end of pain
black blood releasing warrior souls
Vultures circle 'round the fields of grief
another graveyard, another tale
Can't you hear it
hear the sorrows vail
Oh, can't you see it
the newborn day
