One more held in Arshi Malik murder

Ghaziabad: One more accused was arrested on Sunday for the murder of 29-year-old cloth merchant, Arshi Malik, in an upscale Indirapuram society on March 11.

According to the police, the accused Usman Chowdhary, who carried a reward of Rs 5,000 was arrested from Karhera cut. A Belgium-made 9mm pistol along with ten rounds of cartridges have also been seized from him. This is the 14th arrest made by police in the case. However, the prime accused Kale alias Yunus is still at large.


"We received a tip-off that one Usman Chowdhary will be visiting a shop at Karhera cut following which a trap was laid and police party waited for him to show up." said Salmantaj Patil, SP city Ghaziabad.


During questioning, the accused revealed that he provided logistics to prime accused Kale and was present on March 11 when Arshi was gunned down. He was told to wait with a scooterette outside ATS Advantage society and immediately after committing the crime Kale had escaped in his scooterette.


The police, meanwhile, are on the lookout for Kale, alias Yunus, in connection with the murder of Arshi Malik. His brother Amjad Malik was also killed by the accused in 2015 following which Arshi Malik was provided round the clock security.
