Best Friends (1982 film)

Best Friends is a 1982 feature film starring Burt Reynolds and Goldie Hawn. It is loosely based on the true story of the relationship between its writers, Barry Levinson and Valerie Curtin. The film is directed by Norman Jewison and is a drama as well as a romantic comedy.

Plot

Richard Babson and Paula McCullen are a couple of Hollywood screenwriters who have lived and worked together for a number of years. Richard would like to get married, but Paula does not feel the need.

Having just written a film script for producer Larry Weissman, the couple decides to get married without letting anyone else know. Paula can tell it is important to Richard, so she reluctantly agrees.

They are wed in a downtown Los Angeles marriage bureau by a man named Jorge Medina in barely understandable English. For a honeymoon trip, they travel cross-country by train to inform their parents back East about what they have just done.

The first stop is Buffalo, New York, where they are met in a winter snowstorm by Paula's parents. Eleanor and Tim McCullen are old-fashioned, so Paula informs Richard that they will need to sleep in separate beds. Richard isn't happy about being treated like a child, or about the frigid climate and the constantly open window.

Best Friends (Froggy Fresh song)

"Best Friends" is a song by rapper Froggy Fresh from his debut album, Money Maker (Re-Loaded). It was originally released on May 31, 2012, under the name Krispy Kreme. The song was accompanied by a music video, just as "The Baddest", and all other of Froggy's songs. The video, Froggy's third overall, has accumulated over 6.5 million views, as of December 1, 2013.

Release

"Best Friends" was released following "The Baddest", and "Haters Wanna Be Me". Both of the preceding songs thrust Froggy into the spotlight.

Music video

The music video depicted the friendship between Froggy Fresh, and Money Maker Mike. It also displays the "beef" that Mike has with the main antagonist of Froggy's raps, James. James, a drug lord, kidnaps Mike. This propels Froggy to salvage his friendship, by rescuing Mike.

Reception

The music video, just as Froggy's previous two, as well as his subsequent videos, went viral, being featured on Complex, and CollegeHumor, among other online publications.

Sister (Dover album)

Sister is the debut studio album by the Spanish rock band Dover. It was released on 15 August 1995 under the independent record company Everlasting-Caroline.

It was recorded between July and August 1995, at Estudio La Nave in Madrid. The record company, lacking resources, did little promotion for the album, which led to a complete failure to sell only 500 copies of an edition of 800, when his goal was to edit and sell 4,000. This was a big disappointment, but at least it allowed them to add performances (Festimad from 1996 to 1998, and Festival Internacional de Benicàssim in 1996).

Even with the disappointment of sales, they recorded their first video Come with me. Officially the album had no single but this song was the most demanded for at concerts by fans. The music video was recorded in a garage, with reduced budget, under the direction of Juan Bullón.

Reissue

The album was reissued by Chrysalis on March 26, 2001. Besides having a new album cover and a neat internal booklet with funny pictures from his last tours, it contained a song that, in its day, could not enter the album because of publishing problems. It was "Noche Tras Noche", the only song that the band has recorded in Spanish. It is a cover version of the Spanish group Solera, that Dover used to play in his first concerts back in 1994.

Sister (Letters to Cleo album)

Sister is a compilation album by the band Letters to Cleo. It was released on November 3, 1998. The album's last track is a cover of Fleetwood Mac's "Dreams". Although it was the final Letters To Cleo album to be released through a major label, the material on the album pre-dates all their other work; tracks 1-7 are originally from their demo tape, and tracks 8-11 were originally released as b-sides to the group's singles.

Patrol (novel)

Patrol is a 1927 war novel by the British writer Philip MacDonald. It is set in Mesopotamia during the First World War, focusing on the psychological strain on a patrol of British soldiers when they become lost in the desert and surrounded by the enemy. It sometimes known as Lost Patrol.

Adaptations

The novel was adapted into films on two occasions. A 1929 British silent film Lost Patrol directed by Walter Summers and starring Cyril McLaglen and a 1934 American film The Lost Patrol directed by John Ford and starring Victor McLaglen, Boris Karloff and Reginald Denny.

Girlfriends is a 1978 comedy-drama film directed by Claudia Weill and written by Vicki Polon.

Plot

A photographer, Susan Weinblatt (Melanie Mayron), supports herself by shooting baby pictures and Bar Mitzvahs while she aims for an exhibit of her work in a gallery. Her best friend and roommate Anne Munroe (Anita Skinner), is an aspiring writer.

After she sells three of her pictures to a magazine Susan thinks she has left the world of portraits and wedding photography behind her, but her life begins to fall apart when Anne moves out and marries her boyfriend, Martin (Bob Balaban), and she can't manage to sell any more photographs.

Susan develops a crush on the Rabbi Gold (Eli Wallach), who works the Bar Mitzvahs and weddings she works. The two kiss, but before they start an affair she accidentally meets his wife and son which puts a damper on their relationship.

After scamming her way into a meeting with a gallery owner Susan is recommended to another gallerist and is finally able to get her own show. She also gets a boyfriend, Eric (Christopher Guest). She later fights with Anne, as Anne is jealous of her independence while Susan resents her marriage and child. Later on she fights with Eric as well over her insistence on maintaining her own apartment.
