Number 61 from the channel 4 show 100 Greatest Sporting Moments,English jump jockey Bob Champion made headlines in 1981 when he recovered from testicular cancer to reach the pinnacle of his sport.
Champion had been diagnosed with the disease in 1979 but he bounced back two years later when he rode Aldaniti - who had also recovered from a career-threatening injury - to Grand National success.
Champion then went onto further success in the Hennessey Cognac Gold Cup and the Whitbread Trial Chase, was made an MBE and saw his story committed to celluloid in the film Champion, which starred John Hurt and Aldaniti himself.

For Katiehorseeventers comp, we had to make a trailer of a horse film.
I chose one you may not of heard of called Champions is recreates the real story of jockey Bob Champion overcoming cancer, and his horse aldaniti overcoming a breakdown.
And then they won the Grand National =D

Former jockey Bob Champion says the death of Katie Walsh's mount Battlefront on the opening day of the Aintree Festival is "one of those unfortunate things".
The 11-year-old, trained by Walsh's father Ted and owned by her mother Helen, collapsed and died after being pulled up at the 11th fence of the The Fox Hunters' Chase, the big race for amateur jockeys.
Walsh is due to ride Seabass in Saturday's Grand National. She rode the same horse to third place last year but Champion believes she will "have a harder job" this time out. Walsh's brother, champion jockey Ruby Walsh, will ride On His Own trained by Willie Mullins.

Bob Champion
Robert "Bob" Champion MBE (born 4 June 1948) is a English former jump jockey who won the 1981 Grand National on Aldaniti. His triumph was made into a film Champions, with John Hurt portraying Champion. The film is based on Champion's book Champions Story, which he wrote with close friend and racing journalist and broadcaster Jonathan Powell.
Champion was born in Guisborough, Redcar and Cleveland, England. At the height of his career as a jockey, he was diagnosed with testicular cancer in July 1979. He was treated with an orchidectomy and with the chemotherapeutic drugs bleomycin, vinblastine and cisplatin, and also had an exploratory operation to identify cancer in his lymph nodes. His victory on Aldaniti was viewed by many as a great triumph, following his previous adversity. Their victory earned them that year's BBC Sports Personality of the Year Team Award and was chosen as one of the 100 Greatest Sporting Moments by Channel 4 viewers in 2002.
Other major races that Champion won during his career include the Hennessy Cognac Gold Cup and the Whitbread Trial Chase. He was appointed Member of the Order of the British Empire in the 1982 Queen's Birthday Honours. In 1983 he formed the Bob Champion Cancer Trust, which has raised millions of pounds for cancer research. He retired from training horses in 1999.

I chose one you may not of heard of called Champions is recreates the real story of jockey Bob Champion overcoming cancer, and his horse aldaniti overcoming a breakdown.
And then they won the Grand National =D

The 11-year-old, trained by Walsh's father Ted and owned by her mother Helen, collapsed and died after being pulled up at the 11th fence of the The Fox Hunters' Chase, the big race for amateur jockeys.
Walsh is due to ride Seabass in Saturday's Grand National. She rode the same horse to third place last year but Champion believes she will "have a harder job" this time out. Walsh's brother, champion jockey Ruby Walsh, will ride On His Own trained by Willie Mullins.
