Low voltage is a relative term, the definition varying by context. Different definitions are used in electric power transmission and distribution, and in the electronics industry. Electrical safety codes define "low voltage" circuits that are exempt from the protection required at higher voltages. These definitions vary by country and specific code.
In electrical power systems low voltage most commonly refers to mains voltage as used by lighting and portable appliances. "Low voltage" in this context still presents a risk of electric shock, but only a minor risk of electric arcs through the air.
The International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) defines supply system low voltage as voltage in the range 50–1000 V AC or 120–1500 V DC.
In electrical power distribution, the United States 2005 National Electrical Code (NEC) defines low (distribution system) voltage as 0 - 49 volts. Low distribution system voltage is covered by 250.20(A) of this code.

Shane Lee and I install the low-voltage wiring into our new house build in Three Kings, Auckland, New Zealand. The wires we put in cost about NZ$1000 + GST. We used: 305 metres of Cat6 Hubbell data cable, 150 metres of 2mm oxygen free speaker cable, 200 metres of Belden RG6 satellite / MATV cable, and 12-15 Flush boxes. There will be more cost for the sockets that all these cables attach to and for the plates that cover the flush boxes and house the sockets. Also there will be some hardware in the hub box that I'll need.

Here is a video of how I made my low voltage whole house power supply. I use it to power my home automation devices all around my house. It uses a computer power supply and provides me with 12v, 5v and 3.3v DC power. Here is a link for more information on how I built it: https://forum.mysensors.org/topic/4691/low-voltage-whole-house-power-supply
A variety of info on how to make low voltage capacitors. I start with demonstrating making a temporary flat plate capacitor, then a spiral capacitor and then a salt water jar capacitor, sometimes called a salt water Leyden jar. Then I talk about capacitance and the unit farad and show the difference between microfarad, nanofarad and picofarad. Next, using the formula for a flat plate capacitor as a base I discuss the affect of capacitor area and distance between the plates on the capacitance. I also go over the dielectric constant, sometimes called the relative permittivity, and end with the formula for a cylindrical capacitor. All this is to help in designing capacitors. I then show how to use a meter, DMM, to measure capacitance. That's followed by two sample variable capacitors and then...
