Police are investigating a possible shooting after a woman was hit by a projectile while driving in Perth's inner eastern suburbs.
The 24-year-old victim from Yangebup was travelling along Whatley Crescent in Bayswater with a man around 2.45pm when she was hit in the upper body.
A police spokeswoman said she then drove herself to a police station, reportedly claiming she had been shot, before being taken to Royal Perth Hospital.
"It is being investigated whether the vehicle was at another location or travelling along Whatley Crescent at the time [of the incident]," she said.
"Both occupants of the vehicle presented to Bayswater Police Station a short time after the incident and an ambulance conveyed the woman to RPH.
"Although believed to be an injury from a firearm, this is yet to be determined."
The woman is in a stable condition in hospital with non-life threatening injuries
Ten Eye Witness News reporter Beau Pearson said witnesses claimed the woman looked "shaken up" as paramedics attended to a "big wound" on her chest.
"Witnesses say they saw a couple arguing outside the police station before the shooting," he said.
