It’s high time for a Japanese supercar smackdown, and we present a good one on this episode of Head 2 Head presented by Tire Rack (http://www.tirerack.com )! Ever since the Nissan GT-R finally came to America for the 2009 model year, it’s lacked a hometown rival. For 2017, Godzilla gets a refresh just in time to do battle with the brand-new Acura NSX. The NSX is a rolling tech showcase, combining a mid-mounted, twin-turbocharged, 75-degree, 3.5L V-6 and (for the first time ever) two electric motors up front, providing real torque vectoring across the front axle. It also features a third electric motor sandwiched between the gasoline engine and a nine-speed dual-clutch automatic to provide torque-fill, boosting output while the turbochargers are spooling up. This new tech makes the GT-R sound decidedly old-school—its front-mounted, 3.8L twin-turbo V-6 mates to a six-speed dual-clutch automatic, with no electric motors to help it out. Motor Trend Senior Features Editors Jason Cammisa and Jonny Lieberman discuss the two supercar slayers before handing the keys over to SCCA Hall of Fame driver Randy Pobst to lap them both around Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. The McLaren 570S is Autocar’s favourite sports car – its five star rating emphasises just how much we like it. But now the Honda NSX is here, Woking’s class-leading sports car has a new challenger to beat.
The NSX uses a mid-mounted 3.5-litre V6 engine with additional thrust from three electric motors. Peak power output is 573bhp, which beats the McLaren’s 562bhp, but the Honda will have to possess more than additional grunt to beat the sublime McLaren package.
We take both cars out onto the open road to find out which is best.

I've owned the 2004 NSX for 2 years now and the cost of ownership isn't very much if you just count the cost of things that break. I can never leave well enough alone and decided to spend a bunch of money improving the car I bought. (Except the lights, they were supposed to be a joke) So although I am into the car for a bunch of money that was just to improve it not indicative of cost to own one.
NSX looks and reliability is why they are increasing in value and desirability over time. Great value for the money if your looking for a good looking unique car to drive.

Clarion Builds has been cranking out some greatness recently; first their spectacular BMW 2002 impressed us with not only its performance but also its quality, and now we have this 1991 Acura NSX. Starting with a tired driver with over 200,000 miles on it, the Clarion Builds team swapped in the entire driveline from a later, 3.2L NSX including the six-speed gearbox, then added a Comptech Supercharger package for a resulting 400+ horsepower. They completely re-did the car's bodywork, paint, and interior, and installed a suite of electronics including surround cameras and obviously, a crazy new stereo system. Jay Leno
James Douglas Muir "Jay" Leno (/ˈlɛnoʊ/; born April 28, 1950) is an American comedian, actor, writer, producer, voice actor, and television host. He was the host of NBC's The Tonight Show with Jay Leno from 1992 to 2009. Beginning in September 2009, Leno started a primetime talk show, titled The Jay Leno Show, which aired weeknights at 10:00 p.m. ET, also on NBC.
After The Jay Leno Show was canceled in January 2010 amid a host controversy, Leno returned to host The Tonight Show with Jay Leno on March 1, 2010. He hosted his last episode of The Tonight Show on February 6, 2014. That year, he was inducted into the Television Hall of Fame.
Early life
Leno was born in New Rochelle, New York. His homemaker mother, Catherine (née Muir; 1911–1993), was born in Greenock, Scotland, and came to the United States at age 11. His father, Angelo (1910–1994), was an insurance salesman who was born in New York, to immigrants from Flumeri, Italy. Leno grew up in Andover, Massachusetts, and obtained a bachelor's degree in speech therapy from Emerson College, where he started a comedy club in 1973. His older brother, Patrick (May 12, 1940 – October 6, 2002), was a Vietnam War veteran who worked as an attorney.

NSX Cost to Own
I've owned the 2004 NSX for 2 years now and the cost of ownership isn't very much if you just count the cost of things that break. I can never leave well enough alone and decided to spend a bunch of money improving the car I bought. (Except the lights, they were supposed to be a joke) So although I am into the car for a bunch of money that was just to improve it not indicative of cost to own one. NSX looks and reliability is why they are increasing in value and desirability over time. Great value for the money if your looking for a good looking unique car to drive. Clarion Builds' 400 HP 1991 Acura NSX - One Take
Clarion Builds has been cranking out some greatness recently; first their spectacular BMW 2002 impressed us with not only its performance but also its quality, and now we have this 1991 Acura NSX. Starting with a tired driver with over 200,000 miles on it, the Clarion Builds team swapped in the entire driveline from a later, 3.2L NSX including the six-speed gearbox, then added a Comptech Supercharger package for a resulting 400+ horsepower. They completely re-did the car's bodywork, paint, and interior, and installed a suite of electronics including surround cameras and obviously, a crazy new stereo system. I've owned the 2004 NSX for 2 years now and the cost of ownership isn't very much if you just count the cost of things that break. I can never leave well enough alone and decided to spend a bunch of money improving the car I bought. (Except the lights, they were supposed to be a joke) So although I am into the car for a bunch of money that was just to improve it not indicative of cost to own one.
NSX looks and reliability is why they are increasing in value and desirability over time. Great value for the money if your looking for a good looking unique car to drive.

Clarion Builds has been cranking out some greatness recently; first their spectacular BMW 2002 impressed us with not only its performance but also its quality, and now we have this 1991 Acura NSX. Starting with a tired driver with over 200,000 miles on it, the Clarion Builds team swapped in the entire driveline from a later, 3.2L NSX including the six-speed gearbox, then added a Comptech Supercharger package for a resulting 400+ horsepower. They completely re-did the car's bodywork, paint, and interior, and installed a suite of electronics including surround cameras and obviously, a crazy new stereo system. As supercar goes, I don't think there's ever been a superior value proposition to the NSX, unless you go for a Corvette Z06 — a front-engined V8 that can be had for under $100,000. The new NSX is of course a mid-engine machine, and consequently more of a proper supercar than than the Vette ... There's just nothing' you can do with the NSX....
