Argentines (Spanish: Argentinos), also called Argentinians, are the citizens of Argentina, or their descendants abroad. Argentina is a multiethnic society, which means that it is home to people of many different ethnic backgrounds. As a result, Argentines do not consider their nationality as an ethnicity but as a citizenship with various ethnicities. Aside from the Indigenous and Mestizo population, nearly all Argentines or their ancestors immigrated within the past five centuries. In fact, Argentina was the second country in the world that received the most immigrants, with 6.6 million, second only to the United States with 27 million, and ahead of countries such as Canada, Brazil, and Australia.
According to the 2010 census [INDEC], Argentina had a population of 40,091,359 inhabitants, of which 1,805,957 or 4.6%, were born abroad. The population growth rate in 2008 was estimated to be 0.917% annually, with a birth rate of 16.32 live births per 1,000 inhabitants and a mortality rate of 7.54 deaths per 1,000 inhabitants.

Not only does the national men’s team rank above the USA’s, it is considered superior to just about every other country’s as well. FIFA regards it as the second best in the world. Number 9. Steak. The dish is a deeply embedded part of Argentina’s culture. From cattle rearing to consumption, every stage in the process is often steeped in tradition and intended to yield perfection. It certainly appears to bring enjoyment, as the average Argentine consumes roughly 90 pounds of beef per year, compared to th...

This video is about the African presence in Argentina. It includes a brief history of Afro Argentine and famous Afro Argentines. It is in English and Spanish. The term Afro Argentine is referring to someone of African living in and/or from Argentina and/or having roots in Argentina. Of course, African descendants have other roots and lineages too. All comments that I find offensive, racist, stereotypical and negative will not be approved. Please be respectful. It should be noted that many persons of African descent in "Latin" America and the Caribbean do not refer to themselves as, "Afro + nationality" but either as "negros", "afrodescendiente" or by their nationality. Research supports the claim by the Center for Genetic Studies of the School of Arts and Sciences of the Universidad de Buenos Aires (UBA) that an estimated 4.3 percent of the people living in suburban Buenos Aires have genetic markers of African descent.] Today there is still a notable Afro-Argentine community in the Buenos Aires district of San Telmo. There are also quite a few African descended Argentinians in Merlo and Ciudad Evita cities, in the Buenos Aires metropolitan area. . . http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Afro-Argentine Although people don't usually think of black people when they think of Argentina, the country does indeed have a history of African descendents. Given the common belief among Argentine citizens that all blacks who reside in the country are foreigners, Afro-Argentin...

In "Becoming Jewish Argentines: Sephardim, Marriage Choice, and the Construction of a Jewish Argentine Identity (1920-1960)," Adriana Brodsky explores the marriage patterns of Argentine Sephardic Jewish communities, paying special attention to when Sephardim began marrying Ashkenazic Jews, thereby giving birth to a new type of Jewish identity, neither fully Ashkenazic nor fully Sephardic, but Argentine. Although initially Sephardim usually married "within," as the 20th century progressed, and new spaces for interaction of Jews from different origins became available, choosing a marriage partner outside of the group became more common. The presentation suggests that loyalties to communities of origin were slowly superseded by a sense of belonging to the Argentine nation. Speaker Biograph...
German Argentines are Argentine citizens of German ancestry. The term "German" usually refers to ethnic Germans who immigrated to Argentina from Germany, Austria, France, Hungary, Poland, Romania, Russia, Switzerland, former Yugoslavia and elsewhere in Europe. Some German Argentines, or their ancestors, originally settled in Brazil, and then later immigrated to Argentina. Germany as a political entity was founded only in 1871, but immigrants from earlier dates are also considered German-Argentine due to their shared ethnic heritage, language and culture. Germans today make up the fourth-largest immigrant group in Argentina with well over two million Volga Germans alone. Thousands of German-Argentines have become professionals and technicians like doctors, bureaucrats, teachers and soldiers...

On this week’s Vaticano, Pope Francis celebrates this special Mass for the elderly and grandparents, and the former head of Opus Dei is beatified in Spain. Back in Rome, the Pope celebrates the 200th anniversary of the restoration of the Jesuit order. All this plus, we meet an Iraqi couple who’ve fled religious persecution in their homeland and a Syrian Church leader who is asking the West to help Arab Christians. Finally, a group of Argentines ride their bikes across their homeland and Europe to take thousands of letters from children to Pope Francis.
