Cuban President Raul Castro hosted the Premier of the State Council of the People's Republic of China Li Keqiang at the Presidential palace in Havana, Saturday. Li Keqiang was received at Havana's international airport by Cuban first vice president, Miguel Diaz-Canel, with whom they laid wreaths at the memorial of national hero Jose Marti. In their meetings both nations plan to sign several cooperation agreements in the fields of biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, infrastructure, renewable energy and telecommunications. China is Cuba's second largest trading partner after Venezuela. Chinese Premier Li Keqiang visited a professional ice hockey team, the Montreal Canadians, at the Bell Center in Montreal on Friday together with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. Founded in 1909, the Montreal Canadians is the oldest continuously operating professional ice hockey team in the world. Following a briefing on the team's history, Li and Trudeau both put on a team jersey printed No. 1 with their names on the back, which were presented by two veterans of the team. Li noted that he has become an honorary member of the team now dressed in the jersey and he wished the team a great success in the world ice hockey championships. Chinese Premier Li Keqiang is paying an official visit to Laos from 8 to 9. During the visit, he met with Laotian President Bounnhang Vorachit, National Assembly President Pany Yathotou, and Laotian Prime Minister Thongloun Sisoulith. Li also laid a wreath at Laos’ anonymous martyr’s monument, and took a tour at the Lieutou Public School in Vientiane.

Premier Li Keqiang's recent visit to Canada was a first by a Chinese premier in 13 years. But despite that, China and Canada have seen flourishing ties, especially in trade. Visiting Chinese Premier Li Keqiang and his wife Cheng Hong watched an art show at Havana's Grand Theater on Sunday evening, accompanied by Miguel Diaz-Canel, first vice-president of the Cuban Council of State and Council of Ministers. Chinese martial arts, acrobatics and dances were performed at the show, which helped demonstrate both ancient and modern Chinese cultures.
