With the back drop of the Island of Great Cumbrae Paddle Steamer Waverley arrives at Largs on Wednesday 9th July 2014. Having picked up a large complement of passengers she then continues her day trip, which started at Ayr, across the Firth of Clyde to the Island of Bute. Here at Rothesay she sets down and picks up more passengers. PS Waverley is then recorded leaving Rothesay as she heads north via the famous Kyles of Bute to Tighnabuaich, Tarbert and a sailing on Loch Fyne.

Documentary filmed in 1975 as Waverley entered preservation.
Paddle Steamer Waverley “canting” at her home berth at Pacific Quay Glasgow on the 24th May 2015. 40 years to the day since she made her first public sailing under the ownership of the Paddle Steamer Preservation Society. Today’s cruise takes her to Largs, Rothesay , Tighnabruaich, Tarbert and a cruise towards Ardrishaig on Loch Fyne, a close replication of her first public cruise in 1975. The Waverley used to “cant” (turn 180° to face down river) by herself until a structural defect was discovered in the quay wall which brought an end to the Waverley doing this manoeuvre unaided. Now she turns with the aid of a small launch, part funded by Glasgow City Council who currently do not have the financial resources to carry out the necessary repairs to Pacific Quay.
A sailing down the River Clyde from Glasgow to Rothesay aboard the Paddle Steamer Waverley. Filmed on Friday 8th July 2016. Our trip begins at Glasgow showing the Waverley turning and leaving the Science Centre, Pacific Quay to head down stream, passing many interesting locations on the Clyde, such as the Renfrew Ferry, the flight path to Glasgow airport, Black Cart Water, Sites of the numerous Dockyards Wharfs and Cranes, the Erskine Bridge, Henry Bells Monument, Dumbarton Rock, Port Glasgow and Greennock to our first call at the village of Kilcreggan. We then continued our journey to Dunoon, a popular seaside town on the Cowal Peninsula. We now run parallel with the coastline to Toward Point Lighthouse. With the island of Bute now in front of us, it was not long before we reached Rot...

PS Waverley's Engines running flat out at 8 past the "E". The regulator valve was open fully as the Waverley headed home up river to Glasgow for the last time in 2011. A rare sight as she is seldom pushed this hard but even after 64 years she can still replicate the speed and revolutions achieved on her trials in 1947, a tribute to all those who have helped preserve this unique ship. Triple expansion steam engine, 2,100 indicated horse power (1,566kW) built by Rankin & Blackmore, Eagle Foundry, Greenock 1946. Cylinders, 24″, 39″ and 66″; stroke 66″.Engine number 520.

Say goodbye to what you thought was you
We dance in consequences
Entranced with worldly glimpses
Careless with our decisions
You'd think we never meant them
We say that we're the future
Only want it if it goes our way
The time we have is crucial
Will we put this off another day?
No excuses, the time for change is here and now
This is the real adventure
To move past what's mediocre
Obsessed with entertainment
