THE CORPORATION is a Canadian documentary film written by Joel Bakan, and directed by Mark Achbar and Jennifer Abbott. The documentary examines the modern-day corporation, considering its legal status as a class of person and evaluating its behavior towards society and the world at large as a psychiatrist might evaluate an ordinary person. This is explored through specific examples. Bakan wrote the book, The Corporation: The Pathological Pursuit of Profit and Power, during the filming of the documentary.

The Corporation' es un documental dirigido por Mark Achbar y Jennifer Abbott que durante dos horas y cincuenta y tres minutos se interna en el mundo empresarial psicopático. Está basado en el libro con el título 'La Corporación, la persecución patológica del beneficio y el poder', de Joel Bakan. Con entrevistas realizadas tanto a ejecutivos de multinacionales, brokers de bolsa, espías industriales, así como a activistas y pensadores contra la globalización (Noam Chomsky, Naomi Klein y Michael Moore, entre otros) se analiza el comportamiento de las multinacionales. La película, entre otros premios, ganó el de la audiencia al mejor documental en el festival de cine de Sundance, al que por premura no se presentó, pero fue invitada especialmente y aclamada por el público. Extenso documental de dos horas y cincuenta y dos minutos de duración, se interna en el mundo empresarial psicopático y obsesivo de las corporaciones, analizando todas sus facetas.
Está basado en el libro de Joel Bakan titulado:
"La Corporación, la persecución patológica del beneficio y el poder".
La película se divide en secciones explicativas, que expone detalladamente y critica las prácticas empresariales de negocios de las corporaciones. Se establece un paralelismo entre la manera sistemática en que se comportan las corporaciones y los síntomas de DSM-IV para la psicopatía. Por ejemplo, desprecio por los sentimientos de otras personas, la incapacidad de mantener las relaciones duraderas, temerario desprecio por la seguridad de los demás, mentir por lucro, la incapacidad de experimentar culpa y la falta de conformidad a las normas sociales y el respeto de la ley.

Documentary film

Defining documentary

Grierson's principles of documentary were that cinema's potential for observing life could be exploited in a new art form; that the "original" actor and "original" scene are better guides than their fiction counterparts to interpreting the modern world; and that materials "thus taken from the raw" can be more real than the acted article. In this regard, Grierson's definition of documentary as "creative treatment of actuality" has gained some acceptance, with this position at variance with Soviet film-maker Dziga Vertov's provocation to present "life as it is" (that is, life filmed surreptitiously) and "life caught unawares" (life provoked or surprised by the camera).

Extenso documental de dos horas y cincuenta y dos minutos de duración, se interna en el mundo empresarial psicopático y obsesivo de las corporaciones, analizando todas sus facetas.
Está basado en el libro de Joel Bakan titulado:
"La Corporación, la persecución patológica del beneficio y el poder".
La película se divide en secciones explicativas, que expone detalladamente y critica las prácticas empresariales de negocios de las corporaciones. Se establece un paralelismo entre la manera sistemática en que se comportan las corporaciones y los síntomas de DSM-IV para la psicopatía. Por ejemplo, desprecio por los sentimientos de otras personas, la incapacidad de mantener las relaciones duraderas, temerario desprecio por la seguridad de los demás, mentir por lucro, la incapacidad de experimentar culpa y la falta de conformidad a las normas sociales y el respeto de la ley.
Con entrevistas realizadas tanto a ejecutivos de multinacionales, brokers de bolsa, espías industriales, así como a activistas y pensadores contra la globalización (Noam Chomsky, Naomi Klein y Michael Moore, entre otros) se analiza el comportamiento de las multinacionales.
