Carmarthenshire (Welsh: Sir Gaerfyrddin or Sir Gâr) is a unitary authority in the south west of Wales and the largest of the thirteen historic counties. The three largest towns are Llanelli, Carmarthen and Ammanford. Carmarthen is the county town and administrative centre of Carmarthenshire. The most populous settlement is the area in and around the town of Llanelli.
With its fertile land and agricultural produce, Carmarthenshire is known as the "Garden of Wales".
Carmarthenshire has its early roots in the region formerly known as Ystrad Tywi (Vale of [the river] Tywi) and part of the Principality of Deheubarth during the High Middle Ages, with the court at Dinefwr.
Following the Edwardian Conquest of Wales, the region was reorganized by the Statute of Rhuddlan in 1284 into Carmarthenshire.
Carmarthenshire has been spelt in other ways in the past, including:
Carmarthenshire became an administrative county with a county council taking over functions from the Quarter Sessions under the Local Government Act 1888. Under the Local Government Act 1972, the administrative county of Carmarthenshire was abolished on 1 April 1974 and the area of Carmarthenshire became three districts within the new county of Dyfed : Carmarthen, Dinefwr and Llanelli. Under the Local Government (Wales) Act 1994, Dyfed was abolished on 1 April 1996 and the three districts united to form a unitary authority which had the same boundaries as the traditional county of Carmarthenshire. In 2003, the Clynderwen community council area was transferred to the administrative county of Pembrokeshire.

=== http://www.orientalcarpetshops.com/ === Oriental and area rugs serve many purposes, both decorative and functional. Like carpet, they are subject to wear and soil in heavy traffic areas, and trap dust and allergens in lesser used areas. Typically, area rugs are expensive investments, maybe even family heirlooms, so they should be professionally cleaned on a regular basis. Naturally, Teasdale Fenton carpet cleaning experts are just as handy with cleaning area rugs. Teasdale Fenton will restore your area rugs to their original, beautiful condition and extend their life by protecting the fibers from harmful debris. Our in-plant service provides benefits you can't get at home. All dry dirt is removed, before applying deeper cleaning. Fringes are carefully cleaned and combed by hand to en...

We went on a 6 mile walk from Rhydaman [Ammanford] to the "Cennen Arms" in a village called Trapp, Very nice friendly pub. [very close to the amazing Carreg Cennen Castle.] Most of the folk on the walk were Welsh speakers and we were learners. They were very obliging, warm and friendly, not to mention patient with me attempting my very poor Welsh! When we arrived at the pub we had a nice meal, & drink and then we were entertained by Eifion & Ceri in the garden. Eifion & Ceri sang in both Welsh and English and we were given lyrics to most of the songs so that we could join in. It was a wonderful day & great fun too. This video shows Eifion and Ceri performing some of the songs. Apologies for the poor video recording but stick with it, it will be worth watching! Diolch yn fawr iawn pawb!...
On a calm, sunny (but very cold) January day in 2017, I took out my Phantom 3 drone to capture some of the landscapes in Carmarthenshire. The daylight is at a premium at that time of the year (and so were the drone's batteries, as the cold often means that they expend a lot faster), so I decided to visit 3 beauty spots in Carmarthenshire that were not very far apart. This meant that I could capitalise on the golden hour of light that happens relatively early in the evening at that time of year. I decided to visit Carreg Cennen early in the morning, for a brisk walk with my father. This meant that I had enough time to recharge the drone's batteries before catching the setting sun later in the afternoon at Dryslwyn Castle and the nearby Paxton's Tower. This short video contains a combin...
