Back in 1986 in order to cash in on the resurgence of the popularity of The Monkees due to MTV re-airing the episodes on their 20 year reunion. Straybert Productions, headed by Steve Blauner along with the other producers of the original show, Bob Rafelson and Bert Schneider, held an American Idol type of audition in both New York City and Los Angeles to re-create the Monkee magic. The New Monkees consisted of Larry Saltis, Jared Chandler, Dino Kovas and Marty Ross. I was only familiar with Marty Ross at the time because of him being a member of a popular group, The Wigs. This New Monkees television show was sold and aired in syndication, unlike the original Monkees television show that aired on NBC during the primetime slot. This could have been one reason of the lack of the popularity for the group and the show. Another reason may be that many fans of the Monkees show did not warm up to these guys. Their situation was not helped when Micky, Davy and Peter publicly blasted them at every interview given in 1986 and 1987. Dont get me wrong, I am a Monkees fan. But, wouldn't it have been great to see a cage match between these guys two made for TV bands. Sans Mike Nesmith, of course! Ha! Ha! Monkees jokes, I cant get enough!
Hey! The New Monkees did do an episode where they were in Sumu wrestler outfits! It could have happened!
Personally, I like their sound. In this video, much of the credit is due to the strong vocals from Larry Saltis and Marty Ross and a catchy hook for a chorus. It is good, 80's pop music and very comparable to others in that era. Damn! Am I from an era now? Regardless, free your mind and give these guys a listen.
Sorry, there is not more detail for this song. I could not find any official website or discography for the New Monkees. However, the CD is available for sale on eBay and on Amazon.

GERMANTOWN/CEMENTON-Diving was suspended Thursday evening due to darkness as police continue to search for a private plane that eyewitnesses said crashed, exploded and sank into the Hudson River about 4:30 p.m. Thursday.
State police Capt. Robert M. Nuzzo said the investigation will likely continue through the night as police, fire and emergency crews from Greene, Columbia and Ulster counties continue to search the river.
"We have a very large, coordinated effort going on," he said. "Our hope is to find this debris field and locate what's out there."
Dive teams are on standby as the state police SCUBA unit uses side-scanning sonar to try to locate the main debris field, Nuzzo said.
"We will probably go into the night with the side-scan sonar," he said. "At this point, if there is a debris field found, it will be a recovery effort and we won't dive until daylight."
An eyewitness said he saw the plane flip on its back after its nose struck the water.
The point of impact was just opposite the Lehigh Cement Plant in Cementon.
William Saltis, 10, of Germantown, lives on the river just across from the cement plant, and was fishing at the time.
"I was down here when the plane crashed into the water," he said. "The top went in first, then it flipped on its back. I saw smoke."
He said he also saw a lot of flames.
William's father, Larry Saltis, was inside his house.
"I heard an airplane," he said. "Then I heard a loud thud and a boom. I ran outside and saw all the debris. I ran in and got my binocs — by that time it was on fire and sinking. We looked for any survivors."
He said he heard a single engine running until it hit the water, and the boom rattled his windows.
Germantown Police Commissioner Roger Rekow said he talked to some fishermen just a bit north of the crash site who said they saw the plane flying past and it seemed to be flying normally.

New Monkees
New Monkees was the name of both a US pop rock music group, and a 1987 syndicated television show featuring the group.
Overview
Background
The 20th anniversary of The Monkees in 1986 generated enough interest that New Monkees was conceived later that year, and launched the following year. The show was produced by Columbia Pictures Television and distributed by Coca-Cola Telecommunications (both are now Sony Pictures Television). Straybert Productions, headed by Steve Blauner (a former partner of original Monkees producers Robert Rafelson and Bert Schneider), served as the project's producers.
The group's members were Jared Chandler (guitar and vocals), Dino Kovas (drums and vocals), Marty Ross (bass and vocals), and Larry Saltis (lead guitar and vocals). As it had been with the original Monkees, each had to pass a grueling set of auditions. Unlike the previous series, however, musical ability was a key factor in the selection process. Ross, a multi-instrumentalist, had earlier been signed to CBS Records, with his former band The Wigs.

The Monkees
The Monkees are an American rock band that released music in their original incarnation between 1965 and 1971, with subsequent reunion albums and tours in the decades that followed. They were formed in Los Angeles in 1965 by Bob Rafelson and Bert Schneider for the American television series The Monkees, which aired from 1966 to 1968. The musical acting quartet was composed of Americans Micky Dolenz, Michael Nesmith and Peter Tork and Englishman Davy Jones. The band's music was initially supervised by producer Don Kirshner.
Dolenz described the Monkees as initially being "a TV show about an imaginary band ... that wanted to be the Beatles, [but] that was never successful". The actor-musicians, however, soon became a real band.
For the first few months of their initial five-year career as the Monkees, the four actor-musicians were allowed only limited roles in the recording studio. This was due in part to the amount of time required to film the television series. Nonetheless, Nesmith did compose and produce some songs from the beginning, and Peter Tork contributed limited guitar work on the sessions produced by Nesmith. They eventually fought for and earned the right to collectively supervise all musical output under the band's name. The sitcom was canceled in 1968, but the band continued to record music through 1971.

You love them or you hate them or you may not know who the hell they are.
Back in 1986 in order to cash in on the resurgence of the popularity of The Monkees due to MTV re-airing the episodes on their 20 year reunion. Straybert Productions, headed by Steve Blauner along with the other producers of the original show, Bob Rafelson and Bert Schneider, held an American Idol type of audition in both New York City and Los Angeles to re-create the Monkee magic. The New Monkees consisted of Larry Saltis, Jared Chandler, Dino Kovas and Marty Ross. I was only familiar with Marty Ross at the time because of him being a member of a popular group, The Wigs. This New Monkees television show was sold and aired in syndication, unlike the original Monkees television show that aired on NBC during the primetime slot. This could have been one reason of the lack of the popularity for the group and the show. Another reason may be that many fans of the Monkees show did not warm up to these guys. Their situation was not helped when Micky, Davy and Peter publicly blasted them at every interview given in 1986 and 1987. Dont get me wrong, I am a Monkees fan. But, wouldn't it have been great to see a cage match between these guys two made for TV bands. Sans Mike Nesmith, of course! Ha! Ha! Monkees jokes, I cant get enough!
Hey! The New Monkees did do an episode where they were in Sumu wrestler outfits! It could have happened!
Personally, I like their sound. In this video, much of the credit is due to the strong vocals from Larry Saltis and Marty Ross and a catchy hook for a chorus. It is good, 80's pop music and very comparable to others in that era. Damn! Am I from an era now? Regardless, free your mind and give these guys a listen.
Sorry, there is not more detail for this song. I could not find any official website or discography for the New Monkees. However, the CD is available for sale on eBay and on Amazon.

GERMANTOWN/CEMENTON-Diving was suspended Thursday evening due to darkness as police continue to search for a private plane that eyewitnesses said crashed, exploded and sank into the Hudson River about 4:30 p.m. Thursday.
State police Capt. Robert M. Nuzzo said the investigation will likely continue through the night as police, fire and emergency crews from Greene, Columbia and Ulster counties continue to search the river.
"We have a very large, coordinated effort going on," he said. "Our hope is to find this debris field and locate what's out there."
Dive teams are on standby as the state police SCUBA unit uses side-scanning sonar to try to locate the main debris field, Nuzzo said.
"We will probably go into the night with the side-scan sonar," he said. "At this point, if there is a debris field found, it will be a recovery effort and we won't dive until daylight."
An eyewitness said he saw the plane flip on its back after its nose struck the water.
The point of impact was just opposite the Lehigh Cement Plant in Cementon.
William Saltis, 10, of Germantown, lives on the river just across from the cement plant, and was fishing at the time.
"I was down here when the plane crashed into the water," he said. "The top went in first, then it flipped on its back. I saw smoke."
He said he also saw a lot of flames.
William's father, Larry Saltis, was inside his house.
"I heard an airplane," he said. "Then I heard a loud thud and a boom. I ran outside and saw all the debris. I ran in and got my binocs — by that time it was on fire and sinking. We looked for any survivors."
He said he heard a single engine running until it hit the water, and the boom rattled his windows.
Germantown Police Commissioner Roger Rekow said he talked to some fishermen just a bit north of the crash site who said they saw the plane flying past and it seemed to be flying normally.
