Mark David Chapman

Mark David Chapman (born May 10, 1955) is an American prison inmate who murdered John Lennon on December 8, 1980. Chapman shot Lennon outside The Dakota apartment building in New York City. Chapman fired at Lennon five times, hitting him four times in the back. Chapman later remained at the crime scene reading J. D. Salinger's novel The Catcher in the Rye until the police arrived and arrested him. Chapman repeatedly said that the novel was his statement.

Chapman's legal team put forward an insanity defense based on expert testimony that he was in a delusional psychotic state at the time, but nearing the trial, Chapman instructed his lawyer that he wanted to plead guilty, based on what he had decided was the will of God. The judge allowed the plea change without further psychiatric assessment after Chapman denied hearing voices, and sentenced him to a prison term of 20 years to life with a stipulation that mental health treatment be provided. Chapman was imprisoned in 1981 and has been denied parole eight times amidst campaigns against his release.

David Chapman (sport shooter)

David Chapman (born 22 March 1965) is an Australian sports shooter who has competed at two Olympic Games. He has competed in the 25 metre rapid fire pistol at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney, finishing in 20th place. He returned to the Olympic team for the 2012 London Olympics where he competed in the same event, finishing 18th.

His daughter Hayley Chapman also competed at London, in the 25 metre pistol event.

David Chapman (born June 26, 1975) is a former number one ranked player in the sport of American handball. He is one of the best handball players ever to play the sport. Dave dominated the four-wall game for 11 years, from 1993 to 2004, winning eight USHA National singles titles and seven National doubles titles in that period. He also won two World singles championships, and two World doubles championships during this part of his career. Throughout this period (1994-2004) Chapman was the number one ranked professional handball player in the world (except for part of 2001). Dave retired in 2004 but returned to the game in 2008 and played till 2012. During this period Dave won two more National doubles titles, recaptured his number one ranking in 2010, and in 2011 won his ninth National four-wall singles title at the age of 35. As of this writing, his nine four-wall National singles titles are second only to Naty Alvarado’s eleven, and his nine National four-wall doubles titles is number one all time—a feat he achieved with three different doubles partners (Naty Alvarado Jr., Vince Munoz and Emmett Peixoto).

Mindless Self Indulgence

Mindless Self Indulgence (often identified using the abbreviation MSI) is an American electronic rock band formed in New York City in 1997. Their music has a mixed style which includes punk rock, alternative rock, electronica, techno, industrial, hip hop, and breakbeat hardcore. MSI has also been known to define themselves as "electro-punk jungle pussy" or "industrial jungle pussy punk". Their group name is derived from an Ayn Rand quote found in the book Atlas Shrugged.

History

Between 1987 and 1996, James Euringer (stage name Jimmy Urine) recorded about 35 songs which varied in musical style, usually settling in an industrial/electronic punk style. These songs were recorded alone by Euringer in New York City using rudimentary equipment. Euringer released an album titled Mindless Self-Indulgence, which featured songs in a very industrial style akin to Nine Inch Nails.

The first concert using the name "Mindless Self Indulgence" was performed on September 7, 1995.

In 1997, Euringer recorded a cover of Method Man's "Bring The Pain", which was made by merging six different styles of the same cover into one song. This became the basis for the Mindless Self Indulgence sound. Shortly after, the current band was formed when Jimmy Urine was joined by Steve, Righ? on guitar, Urine's brother Markus Euringer on second guitar (replaced by bassist Vanessa Y.T., who was subsequently replaced by bassist Lyn-Z), and Urine's cousinKitty on drums. They have released five albums, two EPs, one live album, and one live DVD. Rather than signing traditional record contracts, the band has licensed most of their albums to record labels, retaining ownership of the music.

David of Bulgaria

David (Bulgarian: Давид) (died 976) was a Bulgarian noble, brother of Emperor Samuel and eldest son of komes Nicholas. After the disastrous invasion of Rus' armies and the fall of North-eastern Bulgaria under Byzantine occupation in 971, he and his three younger brothers took the lead of the defence of the country. They executed their power together and each of them governed and defended a separate region. He ruled the southern-most parts of the realm from Prespa and Kastoria and was responsible for the defence the dangerous borders with Thessalonica and Thessaly. In 976 he participated in the major assault against the Byzantine Empire but was killed by vagrant Vlachs between Prespa and Kostur.

However, there's also another version about David’s origin. David gains the title "comes" during his service in the Byzantine army which recruited many Armenians from the Eastern region of the empire. The 11th-century historian Stepanos Asoghik wrote that Samuel had one brother, and they were Armenians from the district Derjan. This version is supported by the historians Nicholas Adontz, Jordan Ivanov, and Samuil's Inscription where it’s said that Samuel’s brother is David. Also, the historians Yahya and Al Makin clearly distinguish the race of Samuel and David (the Comitopouli) from the one of Moses and Aaron (the royal race):

David, Chiriquí

David (Spanish pronunciation: [daˈβið]) officially San José de David is a city and corregimiento located in the west of Panama. It is the capital of the province of Chiriquí and has an estimated population of 144,858 inhabitants as confirmed in 2013.
