The Center for Public Integrity (CPI) is an American nonprofit investigative journalism organization whose stated mission is "to reveal abuses of power, corruption and dereliction of duty by powerful public and private institutions in order to cause them to operate with honesty, integrity, accountability and to put the public interest first." With over 50 staff members, CPI is one of the largest nonpartisan, nonprofit investigative centers in America. It won the 2014 Pulitzer Prize for Investigative Reporting.
CPI has been described as an independent, nonpartisan and progressive watchdog group. In their February 16 and 17, 1996 reports on then U.S. presidential candidate Patrick J. Buchanan's ties to a white supremacy supporter, one journalist from the Los Angeles Times and the New York Times editorial referred to the CPI as a "liberal group."
CPI releases its reports via its web site to media outlets throughout the U.S. and around the globe. In 2004, CPI's The Buying of the President book was on the New York Times bestseller list for three months.
The Centre (Chinese: 中環中心) is the fifth tallest skyscraper in Hong Kong, after International Commerce Centre, Two International Finance Centre (88 storeys), Central Plaza and Bank of China Tower. With a height of 346 m (1,135 ft), it comprises 73 stories. The Centre is one of the few skyscrapers in Hong Kong that is entirely steel-structured with no reinforced concrete core. It is located on Queen's Road Central in the Central and Western District, roughly halfway between the MTR Island Line's Sheung Wan and Central stations.
The Centre is notable for its arrangement of hundreds of neon lights arranged as bars in increasing frequency towards the top of the building, which slowly scroll through the colours of the spectrum at night. During the Christmas season, the building's neon arrangement follows a festive motif and resembles a Christmas tree.
The direct translation of the Chinese name of the building is "Central Centre" or the "centre of Central", even though the building is in fact near the boundary of Central and Sheung Wan (Wing Kut Street).

The Center for Public Integrity ranked New York 30th in their latest "State Integrity Investigation," last in state budgeting, and 49th in electoral oversight. Erik Engquist, Assistant Managing Editor at Crain's New York Business and Matt Krupnick, reporter with the Center for Public Integrity, talks about why this is important to New Yorkers to know. About a dozen corruption cases concerning state legislative leaders in the past couple of years didn't help New York's rating, but the flaws go deeper than greed. The Empire State got higher scores for things like internal auditing and civil service management. This clip originally aired November 12. You're in the room, I can feel you
I don't want to, then I do
I hear the voices of the graces in here
Swimming around
Up in the corners of our room
You, you hold the center and I sing forever
And you won't hear the same song twice
We're shorter of breath maybe longer in tooth lately
You are the love of my life
I'm on your side, believe it or not
Just don't sneak up on me
We'll do just fine, hold out your arm
And I will fly to you
Bring your leather and I will sink my pins in
You hold the center and I sing forever
And you won't hear the same song twice
We're shorter of breath, maybe longer in tooth lately
You are the love of my life
You are the mountain, I'm the low-flying bi-plane
We come together in the most calamitous ways
You're the Tsunami, I am the fisher in the bay
We come together in the most glamorous ways
You hold the center
I ride the satellite
We come together
