Student Computing Services (SCS) in the Office of Technology Services provides valuable
technology resources for students of all majors and experience levels. SCS includes
Service Desks, Computer Labs, ResNet Support, Multimedia Support and Studios. Our
friendly student staff stand ready to assist in person, by email, through TechHelp
or over the phone.
OTS Student Computing Services (SCS) is the university’s chief student technology
support group. Our accommodating hours and convenient locations underscore the OTS commitment to quality. Our knowledgeable and friendly student
staff are eager to assist learners in any of our five integrated service areas:
Service Desk
The SCS Service Desk provides technical support to students experiencing login, laptop
and mobile device problems. We also offer advice on how to best accomplish computing
tasks. Modes of support include email, TechHelp, telephone (410-704-5151) and in-person (Cook 35, Towson Run 123 or TUNE 206).
Computer Labs
The SCS Computer Labs provide up-to-date Windows and Macintosh hardware and software
applications on a walk-in basis. These elbow-friendly work spaces are available to
all students, regardless of major. Each lab also hosts a wēpa cloud-based printing kiosk and a Service Desk for assistance.
ResNet Support
SCS ResNet Support provides network connection support to resident students for computing and television
access. Professional service calls are dispatched to student rooms when problems cannot
be resolved remotely.
Multimedia Support
SCS Multimedia Support Services manages the SCS Studios, Gear2Go and Gear4Here equipment loans, and consulting on basic media production and poster printing. Equipment loans are available only at our Cook and TUNE locations. Studios and poster
printing are available only at our Cook location.
Studios
The three SCS Studios offer hardware, software and work spaces well suited to video and audio production
for interested students from all disciplines, not just those focused on media production.
With tools ranging from consumer-level to professional and assistance available by
appointment, the studios are a great place for students to learn, develop production
skills, practice presentations and enhance their academic work with multimedia products.
