Towson University is home to nearly 700 international students from over 80 countries and to 30 foreign faculty, exchange scholars, and visiting faculty each year. The International Student & Scholar Office (ISSO) provides documents, services, and programs essential to a culturally diverse academic environment that enhances international learning opportunities for students, faculty, and staff.

To request STEM OPT Extension from the ISSO, all students must now complete and submit the new required I-983 form to the ISSO before a STEM Extension I-20 will be issued. Print complete STEM packet here. (PDF)

Full-time enrollment reminder:

Undergraduate International students- you must be registered for 12 credit hours each semester (fall and spring).

Graduate international students- you must be registered for a minimum of 9 graduate- level credit- units each semester, and for doctoral students, a minimum of 6 graduate-level credit-units each semester. (Graduate courses are numbered 500 or higher.)

SUMMER Walk-In Hours are held every Thursday! Do you have a quick question for an ISSO advisor but don't have the time to make an appointment? You can stop by the ISSO on Thursdays between 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. with your questions. We look forward to seeing you!

New International Students

Welcome new students. Please complete the ISSO SEVIS Exam and Local Address Reporting:

All new F1 students must update their address and complete the SEVIS session with a score of 100% to comply with TU and US policies. Instructions on how to access the tutorial, complete US Local Address reporting, and take the SEVIS exam are provided in the “International Student & Scholar Office (ISSO Orientation) Community” on BlackBoard.
