The 1985-86 Boston Celtics... One of the greatest teams in basketball history, if not the greatest.
They had a very tall and skilled frontcourt, maybe the best ever, the Big 3, with Larry "Legend" Bird, Kevin McHale and Robert "The Chief" Parish. They boasted outside shooting, postgame capabilities, rebounding prowess, overall defense, passing ability, tremendous basketball awareness, craftiness, some power and agility, basically just everything you can get and more... They also had an great backcourt with Dennis "D.J." Johnson and Danny Ainge. D.J., a defensive stopper and former explosive shooting guard, by then a steadier point guard, came through with some scoring, very good passing passing, great decisions, clutch play and, of course, defense. Ainge was a sharpshooting guard who could also handle and pass the ball, and played nice scrappy defense.
With a really good bench led by Sixth Man of the Year Bill Walton, a former MVP that saw his already admirable and promising career cut short by injuries years before. Walton managed to stay healthy for the season though, and registered good numbers playing less than twenty minutes per game. The big man was a great addition to an already unbelievable frontcourt, providing defense, rebounding, passing, intelligence, as well as offense, leadership or clutchness. Also on the bench were two good parts of this team: forward Scott Wedman and guard Jerry Sichting. Wedman, a strong player, a former All-Star and All-Defensive Second Team selection, in his last years was still playing well, helping the team with scoring and some other things. Sichting, shooting 57% from the field, was absolutely money from midrange, a a quick small PG who helped in the ball handling department too. Playing limited minutes, the squad was completed by big man for hard play Greg Kite, now Mavericks' coach Rick Carlisle, rookie Sam Vincent, and PBA great David Thirdkill.
MVP and at his peak form, Bird was leading this team doing everything on a major note, assisted by postgame master McHale, interior presence Parish with his patented high-arching jump shot, and also by the rest of those amazing players, this team was virtually unstoppable.
Former tenacious defender point-guard K.C. Jones was their coach, doing a stellar job with the group.
Demolishing the competition, in 1985-86 the Celtics fielded one of the best teams in NBA history. They won 67 games, going 40-1 at home. They would win their 16th championship and last for 22 years, defeating the Houston Rockets in 6 games in the NBA Finals.

Boston
Boston (pronounced

The big man was a great addition to an already unbelievable frontcourt, providing defense, rebounding, passing, intelligence, as well as offense, leadership or clutchness. Also on the bench were two good parts of this team: forward Scott Wedman and guard Jerry Sichting. Wedman, a strong player, a former All-Star and All-Defensive Second Team selection, in his last years was still playing well, helping the team with scoring and some other things. Sichting, shooting 57% from the field, was absolutely money from midrange, a a quick small PG who helped in the ball handling department too. Playing limited minutes, the squad was completed by big man for hard play Greg Kite, now Mavericks' coach Rick Carlisle, rookie Sam Vincent, and PBA great David Thirdkill. MVP and at his peak form, Bird was leading this team doing everything on a major note, assisted by postgame master McHale, interior presence Parish with his patented high-arching jump shot, and also by the rest of those amazing players, this team was virtually unstoppable. Former tenacious defender point-guard K.C. Jones was their coach, doing a stellar job with the group. Demolishing the competition, in 1985-86 the Celtics fielded one of the best teams in NBA history. The 1985-86 Boston Celtics... One of the greatest teams in basketball history, if not the greatest. They had a very tall and skilled frontcourt, maybe the best ever, the Big 3, with Larry "Legend" Bird, Kevin McHale and Robert "The Chief" Parish. The 1985-86 Boston Celtics... One of the greatest teams in basketball history, if not the greatest.
They had a very tall and skilled frontcourt, maybe the best ever, the Big 3, with Larry "Legend" Bird, Kevin McHale and Robert "The Chief" Parish. They boasted outside shooting, postgame capabilities, rebounding prowess, overall defense, passing ability, tremendous basketball awareness, craftiness, some power and agility, basically just everything you can get and more... They also had an great backcourt with Dennis "D.J." Johnson and Danny Ainge. D.J., a defensive stopper and former explosive shooting guard, by then a steadier point guard, came through with some scoring, very good passing passing, great decisions, clutch play and, of course, defense. Ainge was a sharpshooting guard who could also handle and pass the ball, and played nice scrappy defense.
With a really good bench led by Sixth Man of the Year Bill Walton, a former MVP that saw his already admirable and promising career cut short by injuries years before. Walton managed to stay healthy for the season though, and registered good numbers playing less than twenty minutes per game. The big man was a great addition to an already unbelievable frontcourt, providing defense, rebounding, passing, intelligence, as well as offense, leadership or clutchness. Also on the bench were two good parts of this team: forward Scott Wedman and guard Jerry Sichting. Wedman, a strong player, a former All-Star and All-Defensive Second Team selection, in his last years was still playing well, helping the team with scoring and some other things. Sichting, shooting 57% from the field, was absolutely money from midrange, a a quick small PG who helped in the ball handling department too. Playing limited minutes, the squad was completed by big man for hard play Greg Kite, now Mavericks' coach Rick Carlisle, rookie Sam Vincent, and PBA great David Thirdkill.
MVP and at his peak form, Bird was leading this team doing everything on a major note, assisted by postgame master McHale, interior presence Parish with his patented high-arching jump shot, and also by the rest of those amazing players, this team was virtually unstoppable.
Former tenacious defender point-guard K.C. Jones was their coach, doing a stellar job with the group.
Demolishing the competition, in 1985-86 the Celtics fielded one of the best teams in NBA history. They won 67 games, going 40-1 at home. They would win their 16th championship and last for 22 years, defeating the Houston Rockets in 6 games in the NBA Finals.

Boston has over half a million inhabitants and is the largest of New England's cities. As its most important commercial and financial centre, the city on the Charles River has always played an historic role and was the cradle of Independence.
In the centre of Boston, Copley Square features the Trinity Church, which contrasts with the modern Hancock Tower that dominates the skyline. Park Street Church was where, in 1829, William Garrison gave his first anti-slavery speech. In the adjacent Granary Burial Ground, some of America's most famous sons are buried, such as John Hancock, Samuel Adams and Paul Revere.
Beacon Hill has hardly changed over the past 150 years, an architectural gem with narrow, winding cobbled streets and even today, the wrought ironwork of its balconies and banisters indicate that this is one of Boston's most sought after areas.
In front of the Old South Meeting House, in 1729, thousands of Boston's inhabitants protested against the English king and the taxes that he had imposed upon them. The Old State House is Boston's oldest public building. In 1776, it was here that the Declaration of Independence was read out for the first time.
The Plymouth Plantation is a reconstruction of the Pilgrim Fathers' original settlement and is one of the jewels of the many living museums in the U.S.A. To the southwest of Boston there is the museum town of Old Sturbridge Village in which historic buildings from all over the country have been lovingly replicated. Village inhabitants in historical costumes walk and talk in wide open spaces and act out the scenes of daily life as it was two centuries ago.
