The term "post office" or "post-office" has been in use since the 1650s, shortly after the legalisation of private mail service in England in 1635. These stables or inns permitted important correspondence to travel without delay. In early America, post offices were also known as "stations". This term and "post house" fell from use as horse and coach service was replaced by railways, aircraft, and automobiles.

The Old Post Office, also known as U.S. Post Office, is a historic post office building located at 121 Ellicott Street in Buffalo in Erie County, New York. It was the tallest building in the city from 1901 to 1912. It was designed by the Office of the Supervising Architect during the tenure of Jeremiah O'Rourke when construction started in 1897. The $1,500,000 building opened in 1901 during the tenure of James Knox Taylor and operated as Buffalo's central post office until 1963. I found this particular episode to be fascinating as to the inner workings of another country's postal office shortcomings. I uploaded this as I could not find a proper source credit to showing my fellow carriers in the USPS how Royal Mail is struggling, and how privatization may not be the answer. I will happily delete this video as I do not own it. This is purely educational reasons for me uploading such information for US letter carriers.

Marimayam is a sitcom aired on Mazhavil Manorama that depicts certain real public incidents that common people come across. This popular comedy show conveys a real picture of government offices in Kerala.
Marimayam uses humour and satire to tug at the red tape that entangles people in rules and regulation. The show highlights sleaze, incompetence and delay in government offices, public and private institutions. The series shows the common man and his woes as he runs from one office to the other in search of a solution to his problems.
Sathyasheelan, Koya, Valsala,, Mandodari and Syamala, all characters in the show, highlight how red tape often strangles the common man or ties him in knots.
Marimayam is all about verbal humour, not the slapstick comedy that is found in most shows. The series also received the Kerala state award for the best comedy programme for three consecutive years
