Anthony Kapel "Van" Jones (born September 20, 1968) is an American political activist, commentator, author and attorney. He is a co-founder of several non profit organizations including the Dream Corps, a “social justice accelerator” which owns and operates three advocacy projects: #cut50, #YesWeCode and Green for All. He is the author of two New York Times bestselling books, The Green Collar Economy and Rebuild the Dream. He served as President Obama’s Special Advisor on Green Jobs, as an Associate Professor at Princeton University, and as a co-host of CNN’s political debate show Crossfire. He is currently President of Dream Corps and a regular CNN contributor.
In 2009 Time magazine named Jones one of the 100 most influential people in the world. In 2010 he was the recipient of the NAACP President’s award.
Jones and his twin sister Angela were born in 1968 in Jackson, Tennessee. Their mother was a teacher at a high school and their father was a principal at a junior high school. Jones' sister said that as a child he was "the stereotypical geek—he just kind of lived up in his head a lot." He has described his own childhood behavior as "bookish and bizarre." His grandfather was the senior bishop in the Christian Methodist Episcopal Church, and Jones sometimes accompanied his grandfather to religious conferences, where he would sit all day listening to the adults "in these hot, sweaty black churches". Jones was a young fan of John and Bobby Kennedy, and would pin photographs of them to a bulletin board in his room in the specially delineated "Kennedy Section". As a child he paired his Star Wars action figures with Kennedy-era political figures; Luke Skywalker was John, Han Solo was Bobby, and Lando Calrissian was Martin Luther King, Jr.
Donald John Trump, Sr. (born June 14, 1946) is an American businessperson and media personality. He is the chairman and president of The Trump Organization and the founder of Trump Entertainment Resorts. Trump's career, branding efforts, personal life, wealth, and outspoken manner have made him famous throughout the country. Since 2015, he is also a candidate for the Republican nomination for President of the United States in the 2016 election.
Trump is a native of New York City and a son of Fred Trump, who inspired him to enter real estate development. After two years at Fordham University and while studying at Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, Trump worked for his father's firm, Elizabeth Trump & Son. Upon graduating in 1968 he joined the company, and in 1971 was given control, renaming the company "The Trump Organization". Since then he has built hotels, golf courses, and other properties, many of which bear his name. He is a major figure in the American business scene and has received prominent media exposure. The NBC reality show The Apprentice bolstered his fame, and his three marriages were extensively reported in tabloids.
Ann Hart Coulter (/ˈkoʊltər/; born December 8, 1961) is an American conservative social and political commentator, writer, syndicated columnist, and lawyer. She frequently appears on television, radio, and as a speaker at public and private events.
Coulter rose to prominence in the 1990s as an outspoken critic of the Clinton administration. Her first book concerned the Bill Clinton impeachment, and sprang from her experience writing legal briefs for Paula Jones's attorneys, as well as columns she wrote about the cases. Coulter has described herself as a polemicist who likes to "stir up the pot", and does not "pretend to be impartial or balanced, as broadcasters do", drawing criticism from the left, and sometimes from the right.
Coulter's syndicated column for Universal Press Syndicate began appearing in newspapers, and was featured on major conservative websites.
Ann Hart Coulter was born on December 8, 1961 in New York City, to John Vincent Coulter (1926–2008), an FBI agent of Irish-German heritage, who was a native of Albany, New York, and Nell Husbands Coulter (née Martin; 1928- 2009), a native of Paducah, Kentucky. All eight of her paternal great-great-grandparents were immigrants. Her family later moved to New Canaan, Connecticut, where Coulter and her two older brothers, James and John, were raised. She was raised in a conservative household in Connecticut by Republican parents, with a father who loved Joseph McCarthy. Coulter says she has identified as a conservative since kindergarten. To prep for arguments, she read books like Barry Goldwater's Conscience of a Conservative.

CNN’s Van Jones said tonight that the reason Donald Trump has been doing better recently is because he “stopped doing dumb stuff every day.” “He was slipping on a banana peel and marbles every day the whole summer, Jones said, “so he stopped doing that, it let some people get more comfortable with him.” Jones also criticized Hillary Clinton for focusing too much on attacking Trump instead of pushing her own message.

At some point during the heated exchange Wednesday morning between CNN commentators Van Jones and Jeffrey Lord on New Day, word must have been passed down from the network to keep the good times rolling well into the 9 a.m. ET hour. Despite the fact that at one point in the interview Alisyn Camerota noted that there were only 15 seconds of time remaining, the reprise of the Jones v. Lord spat continued for over 20 minutes, a satisfying second dish to the heated Super Tuesday fight that landed headlines everywhere. On Tuesday night, the two CNN commentators blew up at one another over the recent debacle of Donald Trump’s KKK controversy, a situation in which the GOP frontrunner initially refused to totally disavow an endorsement from former Klan leader David Duke. “This is what liberals do...
"Insurance is what you buy when you don't know if something bad is going to happen. Maybe I'll crash my car. Maybe I won't. I don't know. So I'm going to get car insurance just in case. Everybody's going to get sick and die, so you know every single person's going to need health insurance. That's not something you can provide insurance for, that's called a service." Full Transcript - Van Jones: I don't understand how this individual mandate is something that we've allowed the Republicans to define as some sort of, quote-unquote, government takeover. In fact, it's their idea. The progressives were saying we want single-payer. Myself, I would say why do you need insurance companies for health care at all. Insurance is what you buy when you don't know if something bad is going to happen....
7/18/16 - Van Jones Goes Off ‘ Borderline Hatefest ’ at GOP Convention
As we reported earlier, Donald Trump spent a big chunk of his election night press conference hocking his various businesses. He was actually surrounded by Trump Water, Trump Wine, Trump Steaks, etc. and bragged about what a great businessman he is. Right after Trump’s speech, CNN’s Van Jones trashed it as a “freakshow infomercial.” “That is inappropriate!” he cried. “It is inappropriate to run an election, to run a campaign, [when you] have people… voting for their jobs, voting for their families… to be talking about Trump Steak.” Jones suspected that kind of talk would wear out its welcome.
Van Jones visits Anderson Cooper's panel to discuss the presidential race. He reflects on his personal experiences working in the White House and offers his opinion if Donald Trump were to win the presidency. Read more: https://www.dailykos.com https://www.facebook.com/dailykos
