Here's a virtual movie of a recital of the popular funereal poem "Miss Me But Let Me Go" Nobody seems to know the actual origin of this poem and many different authors names are attributed to this beautiful profound work. Several years ago I read somewhere on the internet that the poem had been found in the pocket of a deceased WW1 Tommy a British soldier how true this is it seems we may never know as their seem to be no positive information available about who or when precisely this great poem was written. I suspect it does at least date from sometime around World War 1,and therefore would be a perfect poem to place into the pocket of a dead soldier to try to offer some solace to his family.
The image used in this virtual movie is that of Amy Beechey from Lincolshire England who tragically lost 5 of her sons in World War 1. Fans of a certain popular UK Television daily soap drama may recognise the voice of June Brown giving a superb recital of this great poem
Eight young men from one family went off to fight in the First World War - only three came home.
The terrible toll on the Beechey family was unusual, but not unique. One other family is known to have lost five brothers in the war: the Souls, from Great Rissington in Gloucestershire. It was the story of the Souls, which came to light in 2001, that reminded Joey (Josephine) Warren of tales told by her mother Edie, the youngest daughter of Amy Beechey. The Reverend Prince William Thomas Beechey had been Rector of Friesthorpe with Snarford, but when the Rector was taken ill with cancer, the family had to leave the Rectory and moved to live in a two-up, two-down terrace in Avondale Street, Lincoln. In April 1918, Amy Beechey was presented to King George V and honoured by the King and Queen for her immense sacrifice - but despite her great pride in her sons, she was a reluctant heroine.
"It was no sacrifice, Ma'am," she told Queen Mary. "I did not give them willingly."

June Muriel Brown, MBE (born 16 February 1927) is an English actress, best known for her role as Dot Cotton in the long-running BBC soap opera EastEnders. In 2005, she won Best Actress at the British Soap Awards and also received the Lifetime Achievement award at the same ceremony. In 2009, she was nominated for Best Actress at the BAFTA TV Awards. She is only the second performer to receive a BAFTA nomination for their work in a soap opera (the first was Jean Alexander).
Her other television appearances include Doctor Who (1973-1974) the comedy series Now and Then (1983-1984) and the 2003 TV film Margery and Gladys opposite Penelope Keith. She was made a MBE in the 2008 Queens Birthday Honours.

The autobiography was a runaway bestseller, spending 18 weeks on the New York Times bestseller list, 13 of those at number one.
The film is being produced by Eastwood, Robert Lorenz, Andrew Lazar, Bradley Cooper and Peter Morgan. Tim Moore, Jason Hall, Sheroum Kim and Bruce Berman are serving as executive producers.
The behind-the-scenes creative team includes Oscar-nominated director of photography Tom Stern (“Changeling”); Oscar-nominated production designer James J. Home

Margaret Eleanor Beechey (Born 1894. Died 1963.) Winifred Lucy Beechey (Born 1895. Died 1976.) Edith Emily Beechey (Born 1897. Died 1992.) Samuel St Vincent Reeve Beechey (Born 13 August 1899. Died 1977, aged 78.) June Muriel Brown, MBE (born 16 February 1927) is an English actress, best known for her role as Dot Cotton in the long-running BBC soap opera EastEnders. In 2005, she won Best Actress at the British Soap Awards and also received the Lifetime Achievement award at the same ceremony. In 2009, she was nominated for Best Actress at the BAFTA TV Awards. She is only the second performer to receive a BAFTA nomination for their work in a soap opera (the first was Jean Alexander). Her other television appearances include Doctor Who (1973-1974) the comedy series Now and Then (1983-1984) and the 2003 TV film Margery and Gladys opposite Penelope Keith. Several years ago I read somewhere on the internet that the poem had been found in the pocket of a deceased WW1 Tommy a British soldier how true this is it seems we may never know as their seem to be no positive information available about who or when precisely this great poem was written. I suspect it does at least date from sometime around World War 1,and therefore would be a perfect poem to place into the pocket of a dead soldier to try to offer some solace to his family. Eight young men from one family went off to fight in the First World War - only three came home.
The terrible toll on the Beechey family was unusual, but not unique. One other family is known to have lost five brothers in the war: the Souls, from Great Rissington in Gloucestershire. It was the story of the Souls, which came to light in 2001, that reminded Joey (Josephine) Warren of tales told by her mother Edie, the youngest daughter of Amy Beechey. The Reverend Prince William Thomas Beechey had been Rector of Friesthorpe with Snarford, but when the Rector was taken ill with cancer, the family had to leave the Rectory and moved to live in a two-up, two-down terrace in Avondale Street, Lincoln. June Muriel Brown, MBE (born 16 February 1927) is an English actress, best known for her role as Dot Cotton in the long-running BBC soap opera EastEnders. In 2005, she won Best Actress at the British Soap Awards and also received the Lifetime Achievement award at the same ceremony. In 2009, she was nominated for Best Actress at the BAFTA TV Awards. She is only the second performer to receive a BAFTA nomination for their work in a soap opera (the first was Jean Alexander).
Her other television appearances include Doctor Who (1973-1974) the comedy series Now and Then (1983-1984) and the 2003 TV film Margery and Gladys opposite Penelope Keith. She was made a MBE in the 2008 Queens Birthday Honours.

Here's a virtual movie of a recital of the popular funereal poem "Miss Me But Let Me Go" Nobody seems to know the actual origin of this poem and many different authors names are attributed to this beautiful profound work. Several years ago I read somewhere on the internet that the poem had been found in the pocket of a deceased WW1 Tommy a British soldier how true this is it seems we may never know as their seem to be no positive information available about who or when precisely this great poem was written. I suspect it does at least date from sometime around World War 1,and therefore would be a perfect poem to place into the pocket of a dead soldier to try to offer some solace to his family.
The image used in this virtual movie is that of Amy Beechey from Lincolshire England who tragically lost 5 of her sons in World War 1. Fans of a certain popular UK Television daily soap drama may recognise the voice of June Brown giving a superb recital of this great poem
Eight young men from one family went off to fight in the First World War - only three came home.
The terrible toll on the Beechey family was unusual, but not unique. One other family is known to have lost five brothers in the war: the Souls, from Great Rissington in Gloucestershire. It was the story of the Souls, which came to light in 2001, that reminded Joey (Josephine) Warren of tales told by her mother Edie, the youngest daughter of Amy Beechey. The Reverend Prince William Thomas Beechey had been Rector of Friesthorpe with Snarford, but when the Rector was taken ill with cancer, the family had to leave the Rectory and moved to live in a two-up, two-down terrace in Avondale Street, Lincoln. Here's a virtual movie of a recital of the popular funereal poem "Miss Me But Let Me Go" Nobody seems to know the actual origin of this poem and many different authors names are attributed to this beautiful profound work. Several years ago I read somewhere on the internet that the poem had been found in the pocket of a deceased WW1 Tommy a British soldier how true this is it seems we may never know as their seem to be no positive information available about who or when precisely this great poem was written. I suspect it does at least date from sometime around World War 1,and therefore would be a perfect poem to place into the pocket of a dead soldier to try to offer some solace to his family. Eight young men from one family went off to fight in the First World War - only three came home.
The terrible toll on the Beechey family was unusual, but not unique. One other family is known to have lost five brothers in the war: the Souls, from Great Rissington in Gloucestershire. It was the story of the Souls, which came to light in 2001, that reminded Joey (Josephine) Warren of tales told by her mother Edie, the youngest daughter of Amy Beechey. The Reverend Prince William Thomas Beechey had been Rector of Friesthorpe with Snarford, but when the Rector was taken ill with cancer, the family had to leave the Rectory and moved to live in a two-up, two-down terrace in Avondale Street, Lincoln. In April 1918, Amy Beechey was presented to King George V and honoured by the King and Queen for her immense sacrifice - but despite her great pride in her sons, she was a reluctant heroine.
"It was no sacrifice, Ma'am," she told Queen Mary. "I did not give them willingly."

June Muriel Brown, MBE (born 16 February 1927) is an English actress, best known for her role as Dot Cotton in the long-running BBC soap opera EastEnders. In 2005, she won Best Actress at the British Soap Awards and also received the Lifetime Achievement award at the same ceremony. In 2009, she was nominated for Best Actress at the BAFTA TV Awards. She is only the second performer to receive a BAFTA nomination for their work in a soap opera (the first was Jean Alexander).
Her other television appearances include Doctor Who (1973-1974) the comedy series Now and Then (1983-1984) and the 2003 TV film Margery and Gladys opposite Penelope Keith. She was made a MBE in the 2008 Queens Birthday Honours.

June Muriel Brown, MBE (born 16 February 1927) is an English actress, best known for her role as Dot Cotton in the long-running BBC soap opera EastEnders. In 2005, she won Best Actress at the British Soap Awards and also received the Lifetime Achievement award at the same ceremony. In 2009, she was nominated for Best Actress at the BAFTA TV Awards. She is only the second performer to receive a BAFTA nomination for their work in a soap opera (the first was Jean Alexander).
Her other television appearances include Doctor Who (1973-1974) the comedy series Now and Then (1983-1984) and the 2003 TV film Margery and Gladys opposite Penelope Keith. She was made a MBE in the 2008 Queens Birthday Honours.

The true story of the First World War Battle of Boar’s Head, near Richebourg, France: 30 June 1916. There were many different battles in the First World War. The Battle of the Boar’s Head however, using the 11th, 12th and 13th Battalions of the Royal Sussex Regiment, known as the South Downers; resulted in a shocking loss of life for Sussex families, all in one day: the 30th June, 1916. Students from St Catherine’s College in Eastbourne worked alongside Eastbourne PALS and Sound Architect Creative Media to find out about this day, and the men that fought in this battle, which is known as “The Day Sussex Died”. This film is the result of their work. With gratitude to all the people that contributed and made this film possible

Relatives of those who were killed and injured in the McGurk's Bar bombing talk of that night and its aftermath. On 4 December 1971, the Ulster Volunteer Force (UVF), exploded a bomb at McGurk's Bar in Belfast, Northern Ireland. The explosion caused the building to collapse, killing fifteen civilians and wounding seventeen more. It was the highest death toll from a single incident in Belfast during the Troubles. Despite evidence to the contrary, the security forces publicized the theory that a bomb had accidentally exploded while being handled by IRA members inside the pub. This inferred that the victims themselves were to blame. The victims' relatives talk about the campaign to clear their family members' names.

For ten years they faced each other in the House of Commons, and swapped in and out of Number Ten. They fought four general elections, three of which were amongst the most exciting of the century.
They were deliciously different and scorned one another, yet they were cast from the same mould. Both promised a revolution of meritocracy and dynamism in the British economy and society. Both utterly failed, but together they presided over a decade that redefined the nation: Britain ceased to be a world power and entered Europe; the postwar consensus in which they both believed was destroyed; Thatcherism and New Labour were born. The country they left behind was unrecognisable from the one they had inherited - and the one they had promised.
This documentary tells the story of their highly personal and political duel in the words of those who watched it blow by blow - their colleagues in the cabinet and government, and the journalists at the ringside. Set against a scintillating backdrop of the music and style of the 1960s and 70s (which was of no interest to either man) it brings the era, and its forgotten figureheads, vividly to life.
