Welcome to Bratayley Knows Best Episode #6 Today we are making homemade ice cream in baggies. Materials: 2 Tablespoons of Sugar 1 Cup of Half & Half 1/2 teaspoon Vanilla Extract 1/2 Cup of Salt Ice Gallon sized Freezer Bag Quart (or Pint) sized Freezer Bag Directions Mix the Sugar, Half & Half and Vanilla Extract together and pour into the Quart sized freezer bag. (Make sure you seal this bag tightly) Take the gallon sized freezer bag and fill half way with ice, pour in the salt and place the Quart sized bag in the Gallon sized bag. (Make sure you seal this bag tightly) Shake for 10 minutes Here's how it works: Ice has to absorb energy, in the form of heat, in order to melt, changing the phase of water from a solid to a liquid. When you add salt to the ice, it lowers the freezing point of the ice, so even more energy, in the form of heat, has to be absorbed from the cream in order for the ice to melt. Subscribe!
