A fire fully engulfed a two-storey Fyshwick building in flames in the early hours of Monday morning, the ACT Emergency Services Agency says.

ACT Fire & Rescue responded to a Triple Zero call about 3.15am, and sent four four fire trucks, the Bronto aerial platform, breathing apparatus support van, a HAZMAT unit and commander to the Tennant Street address.

They found the two-storey building, the Box complex at 65 Tennant Street, "fully engulfed in fire".

It took them about two hours to contain the fire a single tenancy, in the commercial building where the fire started."Firefighters continue working to extinguish the blaze from the ground and above," they said about 5.20am.

By 5.45am, firefighters had extinguished the fire in the ground floor of the premises.

"This has allowed firefighters to enter the building to actively attack the remaining fire upstairs," they said.

However, a half-hour later a mezzanine level between the ground and first floor collapsed, "which has made access to the remaining fire more difficult".

The blaze was fully extinguished by about 6.30am, and while the source was unknown at that time, the fire will be investigated.
