Pawprints Collegiate Readership Program

The PawPrints Collegiate Readership Program (CRP) is designed to help students become more aware of what is happening outside of the Towson campus bubble by providing free newspapers to students. Copies of the New York Times, USA Today, and the Baltimore Sun are available on campus at eleven different locations Monday through Friday during the academic semesters.

Students, faculty and staff have complete access to all three newspapers online:

PawPrints: the New York Times in the Classroom
Each term, Towson University faculty members may integrate the New York Times, USA Today, and the Baltimore Sun into the classroom curriculum. Faculty who specifically include the NY Times in their Fall course syllabus receive FREE home delivery of the New York Times, Monday through Friday during the term.

Faculty members who are interested in participating in the New York Times in the Classroom Program should complete the New York Times in the Classroom form

Benefits of Participating in the PawPrints Program
Promoting Civic Engagement is a university priority that is captured in the Towson University 2020 plan. Integration of newspapers into course curriculum allows for discussion and reflection on topics that have direct impact on the students, from social issues and new technology to the global economy and career opportunities. PawPrints provides opportunities for students to get civically engaged at Towson by:

  • Encouraging critical thinking
  • Promoting global awareness
  • Cultivating social responsibility
  • Bringing relevancy to the classroom
  • Fostering serendipitous learning

You can access The New York Times in Education Teaching Toolkit online. We hope it will be of use to you and your faculty members. If you would like to share examples from your classrooms, we encourage you to submit them for future inclusion.
