Stanley Cowell (born May 5, 1941 in Toledo, Ohio) is an American jazz pianist and co-founder of the Strata-East Records label. He played with Roland Kirk while studying at the Oberlin Conservatory of Music, and later with Marion Brown, Max Roach, Bobby Hutcherson, Clifford Jordan, Harold Land, Sonny Rollins and Stan Getz. Cowell played with trumpeter Charles Moore and others in the Detroit Artist's Workshop Jazz Ensemble in 1965-66. During the late 1980s Cowell was part of a regular quartet led by J.J. Johnson. Cowell teaches in the Music Department of the Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey.
Stanley may refer to:
Buenos Aires (/ˈbweɪnəs ˈɛəriːz/ or /ˈaɪrɪs/,Spanish: [ˈbwenos ˈaiɾes]) is the capital and largest city of Argentina, and the second-largest metropolitan area in South America. It is located on the western shore of the estuary of the Río de la Plata, on the continent's southeastern coast. The Greater Buenos Aires conurbation, which also includes several Buenos Aires Province districts, constitutes the third-largest conurbation in Latin America, with a population of around fifteen and a half million.
The city of Buenos Aires is neither part of Buenos Aires Province nor the Province's capital; rather, it is an autonomous district. In 1880, after decades of political infighting, Buenos Aires was federalized and removed from Buenos Aires Province. The city limits were enlarged to include the towns of Belgrano and Flores; both are now neighborhoods of the city. The 1994 constitutional amendment granted the city autonomy, hence its formal name: Ciudad Autónoma de Buenos Aires (Autonomous City of Buenos Aires). Its citizens first elected a chief of government (i.e. mayor) in 1996; before, the mayor was directly appointed by the President of the Republic.

Composer and pianist Stanley Cowell is known for his imaginative and intellectual approach to jazz. Cowell studied classical music at Oberlin and the University of Michigan, but he says it was hearing the great Art Tatum play when he was 6 years old that marked him for life. In the late 1960s and early '70s he was part of the Max Roach Quintet; he's also played with jazz luminaries such as Rahsaan Roland Kirk, Abbey Lincoln, and Charles Mingus. On April 4, 2013, the Stanley Cowell Trio played at the University Club at Rutgers University/Newark as part of the Paul Robeson Galleries' "Evening of Music and Art" series.

Do you remember when she'd follow us around
with stars in her eyes all over the town?
Showing up at every place went pretending like it was an accident?
I thought she was pretty lame
and when I tried to figure out her stupid game
Soon enough I would find what was really on her mind
Attempts to climb the social ladder
but nobody was paying much attention
Trying too hard with things that hardly mattered
and was somewhat embarrassing
She moved to Ukrainian village a few months ago
and started hanging out at the Fireside Bowl
with a new look and attitude that went against everything I once knew
I thought I would push aside any problems I had
giving benefit of the doubt in such a short time much had changed
suddenly I was the odd man out
I must admit I was a bit surprised taken aback
to be greeted with a roll of the eyes and a condescending laugh
you must be kidding me?
When did you become suddenly cool? I saw you last year
and you were such a tool
Dyed your hair black bought horned rimmed glasses to match
and a whole new circle of friends suddenly cool
I felt like I was back in third grade
in a playground all the hipsters made
Obeying ever rule of the punk rock handbook
drinking Pabst, the Betty Paige look
you should've heard her try to speak
if you weren't the flavor of the week
Bored and above it all leaning up against the wall
I was hoping that I would be wrong that you did some growing up
but it just confirmed what I suspected all along in all it's absurdity
