I am delighted to be able to announce my appointment at the University of Sydney to the Department of Political Economy with a personal chair, or Professorship, in Political Economy, starting from February 2014. I have spent eight years at my current institution at the University of Nottingham. Over that time some great relationships have been formed, not least within the Centre for the Study of Social and Global Justice (CSSGJ) – the largest and most successful centre of its kind in terms of research outputs, grant income, and PhD research supervision within the School of Politics and International Relations. As co-Director, it has been great working with CSSGJ’s fellows, including Andreas Bieler, Tony Burns, Ben Holland (as co-Director), Sara Motta (as co-Director), Matthew Rendall, Lucy Sargisson, Chris Pierson, and Vanessa Pupavac, as well as its fantastic postgraduate research community. But in terms of researching, teaching, and supporting critical (or heterodox) political economy it was time to move on and to my delight my next step is to the University of Sydney.
