I still remember that day when it was raining like hell in Kolkata due to which coalfield along with rajdhanis, yuva were delayed. 11448 Down shaktipunj express was also delayed by 3 hours and was rescheduled to 1700 hours. Got an opportunity to return home in the locomotive (HWH WAP4 22377). This footplate was really amazing consisting of signal callings by the ALP and reply by the LP, crazy wiper and offcourse the track sound , I always love conventional locomotives when it comes to footplate because you can really watch all the mechanisms happening manually . Everything was going great until the sealdah rajdhani's entry that the made the situation even more fantastic. Behind the Ghaziabad's P7 30225 12313 smoothly overtook our shaktipunj at 20 kmph as we were already doing 110. H...

One of the most stirring debates in Indian Railways for the past decade is based on the performance of the WAP4 class of locomotives in comparison to the newer three-phase WAP5 and WAP7 locomotives. Voices in support of three-phase locomotives point to their faster acceleration capabilities courtesy the higher horsepower ratings - 6,000 HP and 6,350 HP for WAP5s and WAP7s, compared to 5,350 HP for WAP4s. Proponents of WAP4s point out that despite the advent of WAP5s and WAP7s as regular locomotive links for a multitude of trains, including Rajdhanis, Shatabdis, travel times for these trains have not significantly reduced. Through two videos documenting a natural experiment, I have attempted to observe and contrast the acceleration of a WAP7 and WAP4 in real-life and discern any significan...
Enjoy watching a very rare encounter of back to back Red HOT WAP4's from the same Electric Locomotive Shed , SRC / Santragachi WAP4's hauling two different category trains , both from the same Origin and to the same Destination. The newly inaugurated 02863 Howrah - Yesvantpur Weekly AC Express was flagged off at Howrah Railway Station on Friday the 8th January 2015 as a Special Run. The same day the regular Howrah - Yesvantpur Duronto Express also runs and departed from Howrah on its regular schedule there by arriving to its destination Yesvantpur one behind the other . This is a very rare encounter as the Regular Service of the AC Express shares slot with Duronto Express on a day where Duronto doesn't depart from Howrah and vice versa. The Duronto Express runs 5 days a week and the n...

The best of the worst Epic Fail Videos !! The EPIC here is the Locomotive being a WAP4 where as the regular loco is a WAP7 that hauls this train. On one such rare occasion a DEMU blocks this EPIC Catch. The speeding Chennai bound Double Decker hauled by a WAP-4 link ( Regular link is a WAP-7) curves out of Tyakal while the Local DEMU train blocks the beautiful view of the Double Decker snaking in and out of the hilly terrain!!
