Alegría (Wayne Shorter album)

Alegría is an album by saxophonist Wayne Shorter released on Verve Records in 2003. It is the second album to feature the 'Footprints Quartet' of Shorter, Danilo Perez, John Patitucci and Brian Blade.

The piece "Orbits" is a complete and quasi-orchestral re-imagining of the song of the same name, originally recorded by the Second Miles Davis Quintet and released on the album Miles Smiles in 1967. "Capricorn 2" revisits another Shorter composition first recorded by Davis in 1967 (though not released until 1976 on the primarily Shorter-composed Water Babies), while "Angola" dates from Shorter's own 1965 album, The Soothsayer.

Reception

The Allmusic review by Richard S. Ginell awarded the album 4 stars, stating that "this disc seemed to confirm a long-awaited creative Indian summer for Wayne Shorter." Similarly, contemporaneous reviews by Ben Ratliff of The New York Times and CMJ New Music Report's Tad Hendrickson happily noted Shorter's return to form.Los Angeles Times critic Don Heckman commended both the album's "startling diversity" and the "imaginative, high-flying freedom [that characterizes] Shorter's playing," adding that Alegria offered "convincing testimony to Shorter's undiminished creativity."

Alegría (song)

"Alegría" is a pop song by Cirque du Soleil (from their arena show Alegría), which was recorded in 1994.

The song is a multi-lingual adaptation (in English, Italian and Spanish) of another Cirque du Soleil song titled "Un pazzo gridar", written by René Dupéré and Franco Dragone and featuring Italian-only lyrics. It is unknown who wrote the English lyrics for part of this song. "Un pazzo gridar" is also a song from the show Alegría.

In 1999, Cirque du Soleil recorded a new version of the song for their film "Alegría, the Film". This new version was also included in the soundtrack of the movie.

In 2006, Cirque du Soleil recorded a new multi-lingual adaptation (in English, Portuguese and Spanish) titled "La nova alegría" for their arena show Delirium. This new adaptation was written by René Dupéré, Robert Dillon, Franco Dragone, Paolo Ramos and Manuel Tadros.

"Alegría" was adapted in Hungarian by Ibolya Oláh under the title "Magyarország" ("Hungary") and in Finnish by Katri Helena under the title "Minä toivon" ("I Hope").

Delirious (band)

Delirious is a thrash metal band from Hamm, Germany, formed in 1990. They performed a cover of the German band Blind Guardian's song "Majesty" that was included on the Blind Guardian tribute album Tales From the Underworld.

Delirious (2006 film)

Delirious is a 2006 film released directed by Tom DiCillo. It stars Steve Buscemi, Michael Pitt and Alison Lohman.

It is the story of twenty-year-old Toby Grace (Michael Pitt) who progresses from a homeless scavenger in New York City to the assistant of a neurotic paparazzo, Les Galantine (Steve Buscemi), then falls in love with a famous singer, K'harma.

Plot

Toby and Les meet when Toby interrupts a crowd of paparazzi waiting to take pictures of pop diva K'harma Leeds (Allison Lohman). Les requests that Toby go get coffee for himself and two of his colleagues. On his way back with coffee, Toby is stopped by K'harma's agents from the inside of a building and asked to see if the photographers are looking.

After the photographers look away, the agents guide K'harma past Toby towards a car. The photographers catch on and rush towards the car, colliding with Toby and spilling some coffee. Later that night, Toby approaches Les outside his apartment, scaring him. He claims that he was bringing his change back from the coffee, but eventually asks to stay with him that night, saying that he is really cold and doesn't have a place to stay. The next day, Toby offers to be his assistant for free, which Les accepts. Later that night, after being thrown out of a party, Les and Toby overhear a celebrity's agent talking about where his client is getting surgery done on his penis. Toby writes down the address, and they show up there the next day. After waiting for quite some time, Les gets a shot of the celebrity, referring to it as "the shot heard 'round the world", although he only gets $700 for it.

Boneless (song)

"Boneless" is a track by American DJ and producer Steve Aoki in collaboration with dance music producers Chris Lake and Tujamo, courtesy of and in association with the original producer and composer Aid Vllasaliu. The song was named after the skateboarding trick of the same name. It was released on August 23, 2013 through Dim Mak Records and Ultra Records. The single received success through various dance charts in Europe; it peaked the overall singles charts at #49 in Germany, #42 in Austria, and #44 in Belgium (Wallonia).

Delirious (Boneless)

A vocal version of the song, entitled "Delirious (Boneless)", was released on June 3, 2014 as the second single from Steve Aoki's second studio album Neon Future.I. This version features rapper Kid Ink and was co-written by Erin Beck, Whitney Phillips, Jenson Vaughan, and Aid "Valsal" Vllasaliu. The song was featured in the soundtrack of the 2014 original motion picture film Step Up: All In (as well as Aoki's previous single "Rage the Night Away"), the song was also featured on the 2015 motion picture Furious 7 (although it is not included in the film's soundtrack album).

Joyà

Joyà is a 70 minute long, resident show at the Vidanta resort in the Riviera Maya, Mexico produced as a collaboration between 45 degrees and it's parent company Cirque du Soleil. It is Cirque's first resident show in Latin America. Joya premiered on November 8, 2014 inside the custom-built Joyà theatre, which seats 600 guests at capacity. The exterior design of the theatre was inspired by organic forms in a clearing surrounded by trees. The story, set in a naturalist's library which transforms into other exotic locations, follows the journey of a "rebellious young girl [who] is sent by her mischievous grandfather on a fantastical quest spanning generations".

Unlike other Cirque du Soleil productions, Joya is an "intimate theatrical and culinary experience" in that patrons have the option to enjoy the show along with a specially designed degustation menu at private tables around the stage, or simply have a glass of champagne with canapés on top of the show ticket. The show also incorporates smell into the acts, providing an all-around "feast for the senses".
