"What You Got" is the debut single from Colby O'Donis' debut album, titled Colby O. The song features Akon, who also produced the track with Giorgio Tuinfort. A Spanish version of the song was leaked on the Internet titled "¿Cuánto Quieres?", meaning "How Much You Want?", however, Akon's verse is still in English. A rap remix was also leaked via Internet featuring Fatman Scoop and Larceny Entertainment's Klepto. It is O'Donis' only charted solo single to date.
A music video was produced to promote the single. An independent video was also produced by Larceny Entertainment to promote the rap remix of this single featuring Klepto. It was released on the internet soon after the release of the original video.
"What You Got" debuted on the Billboard Hot 100 on the week of March 15, 2008 at number 86. It peaked at number 14 on the week of May 31, 2008 and stayed in the top 50 for twenty-five weeks. It debuted at number 84 in Canada on the week of May 31, 2008 and peaked at number 29 on the week of August 2, 2008. It stayed on the chart for seventeen weeks. It peaked at number 59 in Sweden for two nonconsecutive weeks: July 31 and August 14.
"What You Got" is the second single by Grinspoon from their fifth studio album Alibis & Other Lies. The song was co-written by Phil Jamieson and Matthew Strong (Custard), who is the bass player in Jamieson’s side project, Lost Gospel. The single was only released in a digital format on iTunes.
Australian music website, The Dwarf, describes "What You Got" as being musically closer to "Hard Act to Follow" stating "It's short, sharp and 100% killer. Just how it should be."
Michael Olivotto of FasterLouder believes that the song "instantly wreaks of The Lost Gospel" and that whilst the song is good in its own right, it "stick(s) out from the rest of the album and would have been better left as B-side(s)s or for some other project."
SameSame's Nate C felt that ""What You Got" also sound(s) like the ‘debauched rock and roll’ of vintage Grinners and is sure to appeal to the band’s devoted and faithful.."
The video was filmed in the school gymnasium of Viewbank College. It features the band playing in a gymnasium while the screen flashes to people in still life.
Abstract Theory is the debut solo album released by former Five member Abs. The album was released on 1 September 2003, peaking at No. 29 on the UK Albums Chart. The album failed to find success elsewhere, and resulted in Abs being dropped from his record label just months later. The album spawned five singles: "What You Got", "Stop Sign", "Shame", "7 Ways" and "Miss Perfect". The album received mixed to positive reviews from critics, comparing his material to that of his former band, Five.
Abs began work on the album following Five's split in late 2001. He soon signed a record deal with Sony BMG, who had previously contracted Five on a three-album deal. The album's first single, "What You Got", was released in August 2002 to moderate success, peaking at No. 4 on the UK Singles Chart. The album's second single, "Shame", was scheduled for release in November 2002, but was subsequently only released in Australia after the record company decided to market "Stop Sign" as the second British single. Arriving in May 2003, the song peaked at No. 10 on the UK Singles Chart. A third single, "Miss Perfect", was released on 25 August 2003, a week prior to the album's release, peaking at No. 5 on the UK Singles Chart. A fourth single, "7 Ways", was planned for release in November 2003, with a music video being released and several copies made available in stores from 10 November. However, the single was recalled on 11 November, and just three weeks later, Abs was dropped from his record label.
Delirious may refer to:
Delirious? (formerly known as The Cutting Edge Band) were an English Contemporary Christian band. For the majority of their career, the lineup featured Martin Smith on vocals and guitar, Stu G (full name Stuart Garrard) on guitar and backing vocals, Jon Thatcher on bass guitar, Tim Jupp on keys and piano, and Stew Smith on drums and percussion. During their final two years, drumming duties were assumed by Paul Evans.
They are perhaps best known for their modern worship songs "Rain Down", "Majesty", "Lord You Have My Heart", "Thank You for Saving Me", "Did You Feel the Mountains Tremble?", "What a Friend I've Found" and their 1994 song "I Could Sing of Your Love Forever", which has been called a "modern worship classic" and is their most popular song in the United States.
The Cutting Edge Band had various members from 1992 to 1996 before the decision was made to take the band full-time as Delirious? with an established lineup. Between 1997 and 2001, the band targeted the majority of its work towards a mainstream audience, with several singles reaching the top 20 on the UK music charts. However, between 2003 and 2009 the focus was mainly placed on the CCM market, although occasional singles were still released.
"Delirious" is a song by American musician Prince, from his 1982 album, 1999. It was the album's third single, and Prince's second top 10 hit, reaching #8 in the U.S. during the fall of 1983. The success of the single was boosted by the runaway success of the previous single, "Little Red Corvette", and also because DJs often played the first three album tracks in sequence, which just happened to be the order of the singles released from the album.
"Delirious" is a standard 8-bar blues number that tells how Prince is being driven crazy by a beautiful woman. The song teases the listener with sexual metaphors, hidden enough to avoid being censored. The track begins with a trademark Linn drum machine loop and a bit of synth bass before the keyboard hook introduces the song. A rubbery bass guitar gives the track a rockabilly feel, which Prince had experimented earlier on "Jack U Off" from Controversy. The track ends suddenly with the sound effect of a baby cooing. In live performances over the years, Prince would later add live horns to the song, making it into more of a swing number. The 7" single release of the song included a poster bag with a 1983 calendar and images of Prince.
"Give" is a song by American country recording artist LeAnn Rimes, that was released as the third and final single from her album Lady & Gentlemen. The song is written by Connie Harrington, Sonya Isaacs and Jimmy Yeary.
The single was officially released for digital download to iTunes stores and Amazon.com on June 14, 2011. The single was released to radio on July 18, 2011. A set of remixes was released by iTunes stores for digital download on October 11, 2011.
Jonathan Keefe of Slant Magazine gave a mixed review on the song stating that "Rimes delivers a lovely, subtle performance on "Give," but the song lacks the depth of insight that "What I Cannot Change," the standout track on Family, proved she's capable of writing." Randy Lewis of the Los Angeles Times claimed that song takes Rimes "back to the contemporary pop-country mainstream."
The music video for "Give" was released on Rimes' official YouTube on September 9, 2011. A shorter version of the song was released later on CMT.com. Both videos are directed by Nigel Dick.
You've got to give it all to baby
You know I want it all for me
I wanna get to know you baby
Is that a possibility
Hey, you're my man, I'm your woman
And I'm not too proud to tell you what you do to my head
I'm not kiddin'
You've got everythin' that any girl would want, yes you do
You're just wishin'
Well it's time you know the truth and that is
When you are beggin' me for money
Just got to tell me what you need
But if you want my lovin' buddy
You've got to get down on your knees
You've got to give what you got and take what I'm givin' you baby
You've got to want what you see and see what I'm givin' away
Hey, stick with me, I'm your momma
And you can run to momma every time your skin you knee
No one ever,
Could ever take your place, the way you move makes me hot
Let me tell you,
You won't be satisfied without me
You've got to give it all to baby
You know I want it all for me
I wanna get to know you baby
