Shaykh `Abdul-`Azeez ibn `Abdullaah ibn Baaz (previous Grand Mufti of Saudi Arabia) was asked the following question:
Is reading Soorat al-Kahf on Friday or the night before a recommended action?
The Shaykh responded as follows:
Praise be to Allaah.
There are marfoo' ahaadeeth concerning that which support one another and indicate that it is prescribed to read Soorat al-Kahf on Friday.
That was proven to be narrated from Abu Sa'eed al-Khudri and the isnaads stop with him. In an issue like this, it cannot be deemed to be his personal opinion; rather he must have learned it from the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allaah be upon him).
[End Quote]Majmoo' Fataawa Ibn Baaz (25/196).
(1) Narrated by Abu Sa`eed al-Khudri that he said: "Whoever recites Surah al-Kahf on the night before Friday, a light will shine for him - which will stretch between him & the Ka`bah." Recorded by ad-Daarimi. And this hadeeth, was graded "saheeh" by al-Albaani in Saheeh al-Jaami`.
(2) "Whoever recites Surah al-Kahf on Friday, a light will shine for him - from that Friday until the next Friday." Recorded by al-Haakim and al-Bayhaqi. And the hadeeth -- Ibn Hajar said concerning it: "It is a hasan hadeeth." And he also said: "And it is the strongest of what has been narrated regarding the Recitation of Surah al-Kahf." And Shaykh al-Albaani also graded it "saheeh".
(3) Narrated from Ibn `Umar that he said: The Messenger of Allah said: "Whoever recites Surah al-Kahf on Friday, a light will shine forth for him from beneath his feet, to the clouds of the sky. And it will shine for him on the Day of Judgment. And all (the sins he committed) between the 2 Jumu`ahs will be forgiven." Recorded in At-Targheeb wat-Tarheeb. Al-Mundhiree said: "This was recorded by Abu Bakr Ibn Mardooyah in his Tafseer, with a chain of narration that has no problem with it." Laa ba`sa bihi
And the Surah should be recited on the night before Jumu`ah or during the Day of Jumu`ah. And the 'Night of Jumu`ah' begins from the setting of the sun on Thursday. And the "Day of Jumu`ah" ends with the setting of the sun on Friday.
* Therefore, the time for reciting Surah al-Kahf extends from the setting of the sun on Thursday to the setting of the sun on Friday. Imaam al-Munaawi said: "Al-Haafizh Ibn Hajar said: 'So some of the narrations mention the day of Jumu`ah, and other narrations mention the night of Jumu`ah, and the agreed meaning is: The day of Friday & the night before (or Thursday night and the day after).' " And al-Munaawi also said: "Therefore, it is recommended to recite this Surah on the day of Jumu`ah & also the night before - as Imaam Ash-Shaafi`ee (may Allah be pleased with him) explained."

Answer:
The recitation of Surah Al-Kahf on Friday is a preferred act and there is merit in it ... and there is no difference between a person reciting it from the Book, or by heart ... and the day, according to the Islamic law, is from the time of sunrise until sunset ... and based upon this, if a person recites it after the Friday prayer, he will receive the reward for it.

Dr. Abdullaah al-Fawzaan did a 48 page research on just this issue of reciting surah al-Kahf on Fridays, and after mentioning the many various asaaneed for this hadeeth, and the statements of the salaf such as Imam ash-Shaafi'ee, Imam Ahmad, Ibn Qudaamah, an-Nawawi, as-Sanaani, and ibn Taymiyyah, who all said that it is highly recommended to recite surah al-Kahf on Fridays, he said, "Most of ahlul-ilm say that it is highly recommended to recite surah al-Kahf on Fridays and I have not came across any differences of opinion from them that would negate this."

Surat, previously known as Suryapur, is a city in the Indian state of Gujarat. It is the administrative capital of the Surat district. Is reading Soorat al-Kahf on Friday or the night before a recommended action?
The Shaykh responded as follows:
Praise be to Allaah.
There are marfoo' ahaadeeth concerning that which support one another and indicate that it is prescribed to read Soorat al-Kahf on Friday.
That was proven to be narrated from Abu Sa'eed al-Khudri and the isnaads stop with him. In an issue like this, it cannot be deemed to be his personal opinion; rather he must have learned it from the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allaah be upon him).
[End Quote]Majmoo' Fataawa Ibn Baaz (25/196).
(1) Narrated by Abu Sa`eed al-Khudri that he said: "Whoever recites Surah al-Kahf on the night before Friday, a light will shine for him - which will stretch between him & the Ka`bah." Recorded by ad-Daarimi. And this hadeeth, was graded "saheeh" by al-Albaani in Saheeh al-Jaami`.
(2) "Whoever recites Surah al-Kahf on Friday, a light will shine for him - from that Friday until the next Friday." Recorded by al-Haakim and al-Bayhaqi. And the hadeeth -- Ibn Hajar said concerning it: "It is a hasan hadeeth." And he also said: "And it is the strongest of what has been narrated regarding the Recitation of Surah al-Kahf." And Shaykh al-Albaani also graded it "saheeh".
(3) Narrated from Ibn `Umar that he said: The Messenger of Allah said: "Whoever recites Surah al-Kahf on Friday, a light will shine forth for him from beneath his feet, to the clouds of the sky. And it will shine for him on the Day of Judgment. And all (the sins he committed) between the 2 Jumu`ahs will be forgiven." Recorded in At-Targheeb wat-Tarheeb. Al-Mundhiree said: "This was recorded by Abu Bakr Ibn Mardooyah in his Tafseer, with a chain of narration that has no problem with it." Laa ba`sa bihi
And the Surah should be recited on the night before Jumu`ah or during the Day of Jumu`ah. And the 'Night of Jumu`ah' begins from the setting of the sun on Thursday. And the "Day of Jumu`ah" ends with the setting of the sun on Friday.
* Therefore, the time for reciting Surah al-Kahf extends from the setting of the sun on Thursday to the setting of the sun on Friday. Imaam al-Munaawi said: "Al-Haafizh Ibn Hajar said: 'So some of the narrations mention the day of Jumu`ah, and other narrations mention the night of Jumu`ah, and the agreed meaning is: The day of Friday & the night before (or Thursday night and the day after).' " And al-Munaawi also said: "Therefore, it is recommended to recite this Surah on the day of Jumu`ah & also the night before - as Imaam Ash-Shaafi`ee (may Allah be pleased with him) explained."

What is the ruling on reciting Surah Al-Kahf on Friday during the day and night?
Answer:
The recitation of Surah Al-Kahf on Friday is a preferred act and there is merit in it ... and there is no difference between a person reciting it from the Book, or by heart ... and the day, according to the Islamic law, is from the time of sunrise until sunset ... and based upon this, if a person recites it after the Friday prayer, he will receive the reward for it.

Dr. Abdullaah al-Fawzaan did a 48 page research on just this issue of reciting surah al-Kahf on Fridays, and after mentioning the many various asaaneed for this hadeeth, and the statements of the salaf such as Imam ash-Shaafi'ee, Imam Ahmad, Ibn Qudaamah, an-Nawawi, as-Sanaani, and ibn Taymiyyah, who all said that it is highly recommended to recite surah al-Kahf on Fridays, he said, "Most of ahlul-ilm say that it is highly recommended to recite surah al-Kahf on Fridays and I have not came across any differences of opinion from them that would negate this."

For more travel and food, head over to my blogs: http://migrationology.com/ and http://www.eatingthaifood.com/ I normally don’t like to travel quickly, but this trip to Koh Samui was a quick one - the reason is because we already had some family commitments back in Bangkok, and because we’re getting ready to take a trip to Taiwan and on the the Philippines very soon. So we only ended up staying in Samui for 4 nights, 5 days, and then we needed to get back home. We started the day off at our hotel, Lazy Days Samui Beach Resort, by first having breakfast, then doing some work in the morning. A travel vlog of our amazing trip to Thailand! We visited Bangkok, hopped on a plane to Surat Thani and then caught a ferry to Koh Samui. The best holiday of our lives by far, with beautiful sunny beaches (Chaweng Beach was our favourite), great nightlife, and stunning scenery - what's not to love?! I'd love to visit more islands in Thailand in the future, but for now here is our trip to Thailand in Summer 2015! Koh Samui back to Bangkok (and a Ferry Snack)

I normally don’t like to travel quickly, but this trip to Koh Samui was a quick one - the reason is because we already had some family commitments back in Bangkok, and because we’re getting ready to take a trip to Taiwan and on the the Philippines very soon. So we only ended up staying in Samui for 4 nights, 5 days, and then we needed to get back home. We started the day off at our hotel, Lazy Days Samui Beach Resort, by first having breakfast, then doing some work in the morning.
Towards the middle of the morning, we packed our bags, and walked out to the main road to catch a public transportation truck back to Nathon, the pier town in order to catch a ferry back to the mainland part of Surat Thani. We waited for about 10 minutes until our ride came, and we arrived back to Nathon at about lunch time and we were both hungry. There were some restaurants, but we didn’t have much time explore and choose a good place, so we stopped at a place right along the road that looked alright. We had a number of different curries and dishes and Ying had some soup. The food was alright, but nothing too special.
After lunch we headed off to the Seatran ferry office on the pier to buy our tickets, but to our disappointment, the office said they couldn’t sell us tickets from the ferry to the bus to the airport. Instead we had to walk all the way back into town to a place called Panthip Travel to buy the ferry bus combination tickets which cost 400 THB. We had about an hour, so stopped to have a coffee and proceeded.
That was all for Koh Samui, we got on the Seatran ferry which took us to a bus where we went back to Surat Thani International Airport and then caught our flight back to Bangkok.

The Prophet said, 'The Qur'an and those who committed themselves to it will be presented on the Day of judgement, preceded by Surah al-Baqarah and Surah al Imran'.[Muslim 805]
The Prophet (salAllahu alayhi wasalam) said, 'Learn how to recite Surah al-Baqarah for there is a blessing in it, and there is sorrow for abandoning it, and it is unbearable for the idle' and that 'al Baqarah and al Imran are like two flowers which will shade their learner on the day of Judgement, as if there were two large clouds or two flocks of birds'.[Ahmad 21872 & Buraida al-Aslami Muslim 1/553]
The Prophet said, 'Recite Surah al Baqarah in your dwellings and do not keep them as tombs. He also said that whoever recited Surah al Baqarah at night would be crowned with a crown of paradise.'[Baihaqi in Al-Shuaib]
Abu Huraira reported that the Messenger of Allah (salAllahu alayhi wasalam) said, "Do not turn your houses into graves. Shaitan is barred from any house in which Surat al-Baqarah (2) is recited." [Muslim 780, 4: 1707]
The Prophet was asked, 'Which part of the Qur'an is the best?'. He replied, 'The Surah in which the cow is mentioned'. He was then asked 'Which part of that Surah?'. He replied, 'The verse of the Throne and the last pasrt of Surah al Baqarah came down from under the Throne'[Darimi 3248].Abu Mas'ud radi allaho anho reported Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) as saying: If anyone recites the two verses at the end of Surah al-Baqara at night, they would suffice for him
Sahih Muslim Book 004, Number 1763:
Ayat al-Kursi is verse 255 of the second chapter (Surah) of the Holy Quran, Surat al-Baqarah.
1. Our Holy prophet(PBUH) has said: whoever recites the first 4 ayats of Surae Baqarah, then Ayatul Kursi and then the last 3 ayats of Surae Baqarah will not be inflicted with any kind of difficulty in his wealth or himself, Shaitaan will not come near him and he will not forget the Qur'an.
2. Imam Ali was told by our Holy Prophet(PBUH): Qur'an is a great word, and Surae Baqarah is the leader of the Qur'an and Ayatul Kursi is the leader of Surae Baqarah.? In Ayatul Kursi there are 50 words and for each word there are 50 blessings and good in it.
3. One who recites Ayatul Kursi every morning will be in the protection, safety of Allah until the night.
4. If one ties this to ones wealth or chidren, they will be safe from Shaitaan.
5. Our Holy Prophet(PBUM) has said: These things increase ones memory; sweets, meat of an animal near the neck, Adas(Lentils), cold bread and recitation of Ayatul Kursi.
6. For those of our dear ones who have passed away, recitation of Ayatul Kursi and giving it as Hadiya to them, gives them light (noor) in the grave.
7. Frequent recitation makes ones own death easy.
8. When leaving home, if one recites it once, the Almighty has one group of Angels to come and protect you. If recited twice, 2 groups of Angels are assigned to do this. If recited 3 times Allah tells the Angels not to worry as the Almighty himself takes care of him
9. The Holy Prophet(PBUH) has said: If one recites Ayatul Kursi before going to sleep, Allah will send an Angel to come and look after you and protect you till the morning. His home, family and also neighbours will remain in safety until morning.
10. When one is alone in the home, recitation of Ayatul Kursi and asking Allah to help will make you remain calm and you will not fear.
11. The Holy Prophet(PBUH) has said: When leaving home,if one recites Ayatul Kursi the Allah will send 70,000 Angels to do Istighfaar for him until he returns home, and upon his return Poverty will be removed from him.
12. If one recites this after doing Wudhoo, : Allah will give him a reward of 40 years of Ibadaat, his position will be raised in the Heavens 40 times (levels) and will marry him to 40 Horains.
13. One who recites it after every prayer, thier salaat will be accepted, they will remain in the safety of the Almighty Allah and He will protect them.
14. If one recites it after every salaat, the Almighty Allah will make his heart a thankful one(Shakireen), will give him a reward of the prophets, and his deeds will be like those of the truthful(Siddiqeen) and nothing except death will stop will stop him from going into heaven.Tilawat-e-Quran by Saad Al Ghamdi.Para 1 tilawat recitation/tilawat.Para 2 tilawat/recitation.Half Para 3 tilawat recitation.Surah Al Fatiha tilawat/recitation.
