'That's a one-in-a-billion situation': John Legend shows his support for Kim Kardashian and defends her lack of security during Paris heist

Kim Kardashian was spotted out for the first time on Thursday since being bound, gagged and robbed in Paris earlier this month.

And on Friday close friend John Legend defended the beauty's lack of security, which has been under much scrutiny since the armed heist on October 3.

The 37-year-old singer-songwriter spoke on the Sway in the Morning show on SiriusXM and said there was no way to prepare for the 'one-in-a-billion situation.'

John - who is married to Kim's best friend, Chrissy Teigen, 30 - spends much time with the E! reality star and her rapper husband, Kanye West, 39. 

'People were criticizing [her] security, this and that,' John explained. 'But [if] five people with guns come up, I don’t care.'

'If you’ve got two or three security people, they’ve got to back up,' the new father to six-month-old baby girl Luna continued.

The Grammy Award-winner added: 'That was an extremely rare kind of thing that isn’t likely to happen very often in anyone’s life, that’s a one-in-a-billion situation.' 

Kim - who turns 36 next week - was pulled from her bed in the early hours of the morning and robbed at gunpoint in a $11 million heist.

Pascal Duvier, the family's mammoth security ace had accompanied Kim's sisters, Kourtney Kardashian and Kendall Jenner to a party at the time of the incident.

In the wake of the violent crime the spotlight has turned to the security professional and his employment remains squarely in the hands of the Yeezus rapper, a family insider told People.

'Kanye is evaluating his family’s needs,' the source said. 'He is ultimately the one who decides what happens with Pascal.'

Meanwhile as Kim recovers, the E! Network had shut down production of her family reality show Keeping Up with the Kardashians until recently when Hollywood Life reported that Kendall Jenner was seen filming scenes for the clan's reality show on Thursday. 

However, a spokesperson for the network previously told Variety that: 'Kim's well-being is our core focus right now'. They added that: 'no decision has been made as to when production will resume.'
