Golden girl! Sigourney Weaver stuns in metallic outfit at American Cinematheque Awards honouring Ridley Scott

On Friday night at The Beverly Hilton Hotel, Ridley Scott was garlanded with the 30th American Cinematheque Award.

Among the cavalcade of celebrities on the red carpet, Sigourney Weaver was a showstopper in gold-coloured metallic trousers and a matching coat.

Matt Damon had handed off the prize to his The Martian director, whilst Bradley Cooper was also in attendance to present the Sid Grauman Award to Sue Kroll.

Weaver, whom Scott directed in the seminal horror film Alien, wore a multicoloured tie about her still enviably svelte waist.

The 67-year-old accessorised with a clutch made to look like an old and valuable book, complete with gold paint slathered across the edges of the pages.

She completed her look with a pair of black and gold stilettos, which for good measure featured bright blue ankle straps.

Meanwhile, the The Bourne Supremacy star's musclebound arms bulged through the jacket of the elegant black suit he wore for the event.

Cooper, who's let a full beard grow in, had slicked his burgeoning mullet back as he posed next to Kroll, who's President Of Worldwide Marketing And Distribution at Warner Brother's.

The Sid Grauman winner's black dress worked its way up to an elaborate sprawl of lace and netting over her shoulders and cleavage.

The event was hosted by a tuxedoed Russell Crowe, who won an Oscar for his star turn in Scott's 2000 opus Gladiator.

Borys Kit, a writer for The Hollywood Reporter, tweeted from the event that the 52-year-old, whom the 78-year-old also directed in American Gangster and Robin Hood, quipped in his remarks: 'Let's grab this night by the p***y.'

Kristen Wiig, whom the Gladiator helmsman directed in The Martian, wore an orange dress streaked with strips of gold that bore a plunging neckline.

Noomi Rapace, the leading lady of Scott's 2012 Alien prequel Prometheus, wore an elaborate strapless pink number speckled with black polka dots and a swirling black lace pattern.

A chunk of her red hair was pulled over her forehead to the point of nearly concealing her eyes as she stood for the cameras on the red carpet.

The event saw a glimpse of Scott's future casts as well. Katherine Waterston, who along with Michael Fassbender will head up his forthcoming film Alien: Covenant, wore a Grecian cream-coloured backless gown.

Her cleavage plunged all the way down to her waistline, the cream straps on either side of it containing pops of hot pink.

Josh Hartnett, star of the honoured director's Black Hawk Down, cut an adorable figure as he shoved his hands into the pockets of his black tuxedo.

Andy Garcia, who led Scott's 1989 film Black Rain opposite Michael Douglas, was dapper as ever in a blue suit and tie with a pale pink pocket square.

Ambling about: Ben Kingsley also attended, having appeared in Scott's poorly received biblical epic Exodus: Gods And Kings

Ben Kingsley, of the filmmaker's ill-fated biblical epic Exodus: Gods And Kings, ambled about the red carpet in a black tuxedo.

Jennifer Williams, meanwhile, wore a scene-stealing barely-there black dress. Two strips of sheer fabric fell front and back between the Basketball Wife's bare toned legs, which she emphasised with stilettos.

Her neckline sloped down to her midriff, and where the fabric did exist, it was translucent. Large intricate earrings added a splash of glitz.

Jo Champa let rather less of her décolletage see the air, though a strip across her navy dress did provide a glimpse.

Arcing her leg through her outfit's thigh-slit, she posed next to the award-winner's fellow British director Nigel Lythgoe.

Spanish actress Belén Cuesta wore a black dress that opened in the front to reveal a pair of matching black trousers. Two grey straps stretching over her shoulders and across her back to her waist comprised the only semblance of a top.

Brazilian actress Sônia Braga wore a simply stylish pine green dress that draped about her toned physique, carrying a small black clutch onto the red carpet.

Scott's own romantic partner, Costa Rican actress and producer Gianna Facio, wore a Persian blue dress that provided an ample view of her bust by way of a sheer section over her neckline.

Among the off-screen Hollywood eminences at the event was Jerry Bruckheimer, who'd produced Black Hawk Down in 2001.

The Pirates Of The Caribbean producer donned a basic black tux and stood for photos alongside his wife Linda, whose lacy white top provided a chic clash against her black dress.

Once the event got started, several of the attendees regaled the audience with stories about the director, quotes from which the American Cinematheque were tweeting through the evening.

Weaver dished that whilst shooting Alien, 'He clearly revelled in every aspect of making that film.'

Effused the Black Hawk Down leading man: 'Ridley's a very hands-on director. He's a great conductor.'

Dubbing the honouree 'a great, great gift to cinema,' the Gandhi star rattled off descriptors including the faintly redundant 'non-derivative' and 'original,' as well as 'elemental.'

The Alien: Covenant leading lady vamped: 'I love you more than the other ones. I'd take a bullet for you.'

Cooper had plenty of warm words for Kroll as well, explaining: 'What's her magic? Care. She has a tangible personal investment in every movie.'
