Synopsis: In the high-stakes pursuit of big-wall climbing, the Shark’s Fin on Mount Meru may be the ultimate prize. Sitting 21,000 feet above the sacred Ganges River in Northern India, the mountain’s perversely stacked obstacles make it both a nightmare and an irresistible calling for some of the world’s toughest climbers. In October 2008, renowned alpinists Conrad Anker, Jimmy Chin and Renan Ozturk arrived in India to tackle Meru. Their planned seven-day trip quickly declined into a 20-day odyssey in sub-zero temperatures with quickly depleting food rations. Despite making it to within 100 meters of the elusive summit, their journey, like everyone before them, was not a successful one.

Three elite mountain climbers sacrifice everything but their friendship as they struggle through heartbreaking loss and nature's harshest elements to attempt the never-before-completed Shark's Fin on Mount Meru, the most coveted first ascent in the dangerous game of Himalayan big wall climbing.
Elizabeth Chai Vasarhelyi is an award-winning film director and producer with Hungarian, Chinese, and Brazilian roots. Her first film A Normal Life, about young Kosovars who came of age during the recent war, won Best Documentary at the Tribeca Film Festival in 2003. Her second film, Youssou N’Dour: I Bring What I Love, chronicles Senegalese icon Youssou N’Dour and his Grammy-award winning album Egypt, was released in theaters in the US and internationally. Vasarhelyi is a graduate of The Brearley School and Princeton University where she majored in Comparative Literature. In 2005, she was named one of Filmmaker Magazine’s “25 New Faces of Independent Film.” In 2008, she received an Achievement Award from the Creative Visions Foundation.
Jimmy Chin is one of the most sought after and recognized adventure sports photographers and filmmakers working today. In the past decade, Jimmy has collaborated with some of the most progressive athletes and explorers in the world, participating in and documenting break through expeditions around the planet, from climbing notable first ascents in the Karakoram, to skiing first descents in the Himalayas.

Though it is well known that miraa drivers flout crucial traffic rules and ignore the common sense of decency on the roads, not many miraa users are willing to pull down their tower of cards to lop their tall poppies.
Instead, they discuss speeding by miraa drivers as if in admiration of the neck breaking speeds that leave drivers using the Maua-Meru-Nanyuki-Nairobi Roads shaken almost to death.
It’s about 7pm and it’s a miraa pick hour. Maua Town is a beehive of activity as miraa dealers flock pick and drop points near the market.

Jimmie Chinn was an actor, teacher and most notably, a playwright.
Personal Info
Jimmie was born in Middleton, Lancashire on 30 March 1940, the only son of his beloved mother, Edie. His early years in Oldham and Manchester were to shape his writing in future years. He came to London in 1959 where he trained as an actor at the RADA and worked in many aspects of the theatre. His short and very undistinguished career as an actor led him eventually to train as a teacher at Whitelands College, Putney, where he gained an honours degree in English and Drama. He taught and became a senior teacher and housemaster at Dormers Wells School in Middlesex from 1979 until becoming a full-time writer in 1984. Jimmie became increasingly loved and admired not only in the professional theatre, but also in amateur theatre circles as a fine and talented actor, director, teacher, mentor and advisor.
Jimmie's plays began to blossom from 1984 under the watchful eye of his agent Richard Hatton (previously of Hatton and Baker) and the constant support and encouragement, particularly of John Bedding and Paul Taylor, at Samuel French Ltd, Fitzrovia, London. As well as a pleasurable and successful time in television, his plays for radio and stage have been enjoyed all over the world.

Though it is well known that miraa drivers flout crucial traffic rules and ignore the common sense of decency on the roads, not many miraa users are willing to pull down their tower of cards to lop their tall poppies. Instead, they discuss speeding by miraa drivers as if in admiration of the neck breaking speeds that leave drivers using the Maua-Meru-Nanyuki-Nairobi Roads shaken almost to death. It’s about 7pm and it’s a miraa pick hour. Maua Town is a beehive of activity as miraa dealers flock pick and drop points near the market.

Her first film A Normal Life, about young Kosovars who came of age during the recent war, won Best Documentary at the Tribeca Film Festival in 2003. Her second film, Youssou N’Dour: I Bring What I Love, chronicles Senegalese icon Youssou N’Dour and his Grammy-award winning album Egypt, was released in theaters in the US and internationally. Vasarhelyi is a graduate of The Brearley School and Princeton University where she majored in Comparative Literature. In 2005, she was named one of Filmmaker Magazine’s “25 New Faces of Independent Film.” In 2008, she received an Achievement Award from the Creative Visions Foundation.
Jimmy Chin is one of the most sought after and recognized adventure sports photographers and filmmakers working today.
