Nairobi (/naɪˈroʊbi/; locally [naɪˈroːbi]) is the capital and largest city of Kenya. It is famous for having the Nairobi National Park, the world’s only game reserve found within a major city. The city and its surrounding area also form Nairobi County, whose current governor is Evans Kidero.
The name "Nairobi" comes from the Maasai phrase Enkare Nairobi, which translates to "cool water". The phrase is also the Maasai name of the Nairobi river, which in turn lent its name to the city. However, it is popularly known as the "Green City in the Sun", and is surrounded by several expanding villa suburbs.
Nairobi was founded in 1899 by the colonial authorities in British East Africa, as a rail depot on the Uganda Railway. The town quickly grew to replace Machakos as the capital of Kenya in 1907. After independence in 1963, Nairobi became the capital of the Republic of Kenya. During Kenya's colonial period, the city became a centre for the colony's coffee, tea and sisal industry. The city lies on the River Athi in the southern part of the country, and has an elevation of 1,795 metres (5,889 ft) above sea level.
Lisa Lisa (born Lisa Velez, January 15, 1966) and her band Cult Jam are an urban contemporary band and one of the first freestyle music groups to emerge from New York City in the 1980s. Cult Jam consisted of guitarist/bassist Alex "Spanador" Moseley, and drummer and keyboardist Mike Hughes. They were assembled and produced by Full Force.
Velez is of Puerto Rican descent and grew up in New York City and attended Julia Richman High School in Manhattan, NY. According to Spin Magazine, she was born in 1967 in Hell's Kitchen, NYC as the youngest of 10 to a mother who supported the family by babysitting and an absentee father. She learned to speak Spanish at home and English in school. Lisa Lisa and Cult Jam was formed after Velez auditioned with Full Force, a production team from East Flatbush, Brooklyn, at the age for 14. The group released their debut album Lisa Lisa & Cult Jam with Full Force in 1985. She was signed by Columbia Records and the label released their single "I Wonder If I Take You Home" to the European division of CBS Records for the compilation album Breakdancing. Stateside club DJs began playing the single from the import LP, and thus the U.S. division of CBS, Columbia Records, released the record. It quickly became a chart-topper on Billboard's Hot Dance/Disco chart. It then crossed over to the R&B chart where it peaked at #6, and then to the pop chart, peaking at #34 in summer 1985. The single eventually went gold.

Usha Uthup (born 7 November 1947) is an Indian pop, jazz and playback singer who sang songs in the late 1960s, 1970s and 1980s.Darling, which she recorded with Rekha Bhardwaj for the film 7 Khoon Maaf won the Filmfare Award for Best Female Playback Singer in 2012.
Usha was born in Mumbai. Her father was Vaidyanath Someshwar Sami who hailed from Madras (now Chennai), in Tamil Nadu in 1947.
She studied at St. Agnes High School (Clare Road,Byculla). When she was in school she was thrown out of music class because she didn't fit in with a voice like hers. But her music teacher recognised that she had some music in her and would give her clappers or triangles to play. Even though she was not formally trained in music, she grew up in an atmosphere of music. Her parents used to listen to a wide range from Western classical to Hindustani and Carnatic including Kishori Amonkar and Bade Ghulam Ali Khan on radio and she used to join them. She used to enjoy listening to Radio Ceylon.
The Mau Mau Uprising, also known as the Mau Mau Revolt, Mau Mau Rebellion, or Kenya Emergency, was a military conflict that took place in British Kenya between 1952 and 1960. It involved Kikuyu-dominated groups summarily called Mau Mau, the white settlers including women and children and elements of the British Army, the local Kenya Regiment mostly consisting of the British, auxiliaries, and anti-Mau Mau Kikuyu. The capture of rebel leader Dedan Kimathi on 21 October 1956 signalled the ultimate defeat of Mau Mau, and essentially ended the British military campaign.
The Mau Mau failed to capture widespread public support, partly due to the British policy of divide and rule, and the movement remained internally divided, despite attempts to unify its various strands. The British, meanwhile, could draw upon their ongoing efforts to put down another rebellion in Malaya.
The uprising created a rift between the European colonial community in Kenya and the metropole, but also resulted in violent divisions within the Kikuyu community. The financial cost of the uprising to the former colony amounted to £55 million.

Travel video about destination Nairobi in Kenya. Nairobi is Kenya's busy, expensive yet dangerous capital city. It is also both fascinating and modern. The government district of City Square contains the Conference Centre and the Kanu Tower, the headquarters of government and the city's tallest building. Canons guard the main entrance to the National Museum that is situated on Museum Hill, a fascinating building that covers much of Kenya's culture and history. The museum provides an interesting insight into Pre-history as well as to various cultures and the country's flora and fauna. Directly i...

In this film Wild Frontiers, Jonny Bealby, explains about tourism in Kenya. Here is the text... Jonny here, right now I am at Borana Ranch, high on the Laikipia Plateau, in the lee of Mount Kenya. And in this short film I am going to talk about tourism in Kenya. If I asked what's the first thing you think about when turning your mind to travel in this colourful East African country, you'd almost certainly say wildlife. And of course you'd be right as over 80 percent of holidays here will have a wildlife element. From the Marsabit National Park in the north, to the Masai Mara and Amboseli National Parks in the south, the planes of Kenya are teeming with wildlife or all shapes and sizes offering, along with its neighbour Tanzania, the best place in the world to view game. This is a journey into Kenya’s origins and its uncertain future. We travel along the colony’s iron foundations, the railway lines laid by the British imperialists as they raced to create a passage to Lake Victoria from Mombasa. 120 years later, the same railway is enjoyed by tourists seeking a taste of the vintage African safari, with luxury 1st-class carriages and pressed napkins. To either side of their trammelled way lie the gleaming metropolis of Nairobi, the rolling ranchers’ pastures and the sprawling slums of Kibera. Shot on SD and 8mm film, this film takes the viewer on an experiential journey through different periods of history and levels of society: we are welcomed by a demented Mau Mau veteran, carefully set on our way by a railway tourist guide, and bade farewell in true Momb...

Take me home
Take me home
Baby, I know you're wondering
Why I won't go over to your place
'Cause I'm not too sure about how you feel
So I'd rather go at my own pace
And I know and you know that if we get together
Emotions will go to work
And I may do something I might regret the next day
And end the hurt
Oh, I don't know
The way that I feel
I'm so afraid of a one night deal
I wonder if I take you home
Would you still be in love, baby
Because I need you tonight
I wonder if I take you home
Would you still be in love, baby
Because I need you tonight
Home
Your love is
(Take me home)
Lately, you've been expressing to me
Just how much you want to make love
I want it just as much as you do
But will you still keep in touch?
You say I'm teasin' but I do have a reason
Don't let your feelings fade
'Cause you will have me and sooner than you know it
If you could only wait
Oh, I don't know
The way that I feel
I'm so afraid of a one night deal
And sometimes
I wonder if I take you home
Would you still be in love, baby
Because I need you tonight
I wonder if I take you home
Would you still be in love, baby
Because I need you tonight
I wonder if I take you home
Would you still be in love, baby
Because I need you tonight
I wonder if I take you home
Would you still be in love, baby
Because I need you tonight
Home
And on the real side
If you love me
You would wait
No, no, no, no, no, no, oh
I wonder if I take you home
(Home, home, home, home)
I wonder if I take you home
Your love is
(Home)
I wonder if I take you home
Would you still be in love, baby
Because I need you tonight
I wonder if I take you home
Would you still be in love, baby
Because I need you tonight
Home
(I wonder, I wonder, I really, really wonder)
Home, home, home, home
(Take me home)
(I wonder, I wonder, I really, really wonder)
(Take me home)
Your love is
No good
They say beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder
You're not sure you're the holder of my eyes
I gave our relationship more credit than it deserves
No, it's just that I feel you're rushing me
Okay, okay, since you don't love me and don't wanna be with me
No, it's not that, it's just that I'm afraid of getting hurt, I don't know
I just keep asking myself, should I really take you home?
What do you think?
Take me, take me
Take me home
Take me, take me
Take me home
Take me, take me
Take me home
(Home, home, home, home)
No, no, no, no, no
No, no, no, no, no, no, oh
(Home)
You're down on your knees
Begging me please, home
(Take me home)
Take you home
Will you still love me
If I take you home?
Will you still love me
