Chinchillas make great pets however not everyone is right for them, are you?
HD PLEASE! I spent over 5 days trying to upload this video in 1080p! ;)
Hey Guys! I hope you enjoy this video and if your interested in getting a chinchilla it helped you decide! These are just certain traits and things about chinchilla that I see many people frequently rehome their pets for! CHINCHILLAS ARE NOT CUDDLY ANIMALS. These are just some common things to think about before looking into getting a chinchilla! Remember to do your research! After thinking about these points I made in this video I hope it helps to answer your question, "Is a Chinchilla Right for Me?"
1) Money : Chinchillas aren't inexpensive pets and keep in mind possible emergencies that your pet may face!
2) Space : Chinchillas and their supplies as well as their playtime area can take up a lot of room!
3) Temperature : Air conditioning is a MUST for your chinchilla. Temperature should always ideally be below 73 degrees fahrenheit.
4) Time : You can't just leave your chinchilla in their cage the whole day. They need to be let out for AT LEAST 30 minutes per day. Not to mention their cage needs to be swept out everyday! They poop A LOT!
5) Allergies : Are you allergic to chinchillas, their hay, or their dust?
6) Crepuscular : Chinchillas may not be on the same sleep schedule as you are!
7) Patience : Chinchillas can be VERY stubborn and may never learn any better. They easily get into trouble.
8) Life-Span : Chinchillas can live to 15-20 years with proper care! Yay! What do you think you'll be doing in 15+ years?

Chinchilla
Chinchillas are crepuscular (most active around dawn and dusk) rodents, slightly larger and more robust than ground squirrels. They are native to the Andes mountains in South America and live in colonies called "herds" at high elevations up to 4,270 m (14,000 ft). Historically, chinchillas lived in an area that included parts of Bolivia, Peru, Argentina, and Chile, but today colonies in the wild are known only in Chile. Along with their relatives, viscachas, they make up the family Chinchillidae.
The chinchilla (whose name literally means "little chincha") is named after the Chincha people of the Andes, who once wore its dense, velvet-like fur. By the end of the 19th century, chinchillas had become quite rare due to hunting for their ultra-soft fur. Most chinchillas currently used by the fur industry for clothing and other accessories are farm-raised.
Chinchillas are currently listed as a critically endangered species by the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species due to a severe population loss approximated at a 90% global population loss over the last 15 years. The severe population decline has been caused by chinchilla hunting by humans.

Hey Guys! I hope you enjoy this video and if your interested in getting a chinchilla it helped you decide! These are just certain traits and things about chinchilla that I see many people frequently rehome their pets for! CHINCHILLAS ARE NOT CUDDLY ANIMALS. These are just some common things to think about before looking into getting a chinchilla! Remember to do your research! After thinking about these points I made in this video I hope it helps to answer your question, "Is a Chinchilla Right for Me?"
1) Money : Chinchillas aren't inexpensive pets and keep in mind possible emergencies that your pet may face!
2) Space : Chinchillas and their supplies as well as their playtime area can take up a lot of room!
3) Temperature : Air conditioning is a MUST for your chinchilla. Temperature should always ideally be below 73 degrees fahrenheit.
4) Time : You can't just leave your chinchilla in their cage the whole day. They need to be let out for AT LEAST 30 minutes per day. Not to mention their cage needs to be swept out everyday! They poop A LOT!
5) Allergies : Are you allergic to chinchillas, their hay, or their dust?
6) Crepuscular : Chinchillas may not be on the same sleep schedule as you are!
7) Patience : Chinchillas can be VERY stubborn and may never learn any better. They easily get into trouble.
8) Life-Span : Chinchillas can live to 15-20 years with proper care! Yay! What do you think you'll be doing in 15+ years?

Hey Guys! I hope you enjoy this video and if your interested in getting a chinchilla it helped you decide! These are just certain traits and things about chinchilla that I see many people frequently rehome their pets for! CHINCHILLAS ARE NOT CUDDLY ANIMALS. These are just some common things to think about before looking into getting a chinchilla! Remember to do your research! After thinking about these points I made in this video I hope it helps to answer your question, "Is a Chinchilla Right for Me?"
1) Money : Chinchillas aren't inexpensive pets and keep in mind possible emergencies that your pet may face!
2) Space : Chinchillas and their supplies as well as their playtime area can take up a lot of room!
3) Temperature : Air conditioning is a MUST for your chinchilla. Temperature should always ideally be below 73 degrees fahrenheit.
4) Time : You can't just leave your chinchilla in their cage the whole day. They need to be let out for AT LEAST 30 minutes per day. Not to mention their cage needs to be swept out everyday! They poop A LOT!
5) Allergies : Are you allergic to chinchillas, their hay, or their dust?
6) Crepuscular : Chinchillas may not be on the same sleep schedule as you are!
7) Patience : Chinchillas can be VERY stubborn and may never learn any better. They easily get into trouble.
8) Life-Span : Chinchillas can live to 15-20 years with proper care! Yay! What do you think you'll be doing in 15+ years?
