Plot: An honest Hindu pandit (priest) is framed for embezzlement and rape, and not only dismissed from employment, but also arrested and imprisoned, leaving behind his family in destitution. Plot: Student at law Bharti lives a wealthy lifestyle in India along with her widower and blind dad. She is a fan of singer/dancer, Ravi Shankar Singh and attends his music concert. Afterwards she is shocked to see him handcuffed and escorted by the Police. On inquiring, she finds out that Ravi has confessed to killing a man named Rana Singh and is to be hanged soon. Then she attends Ravi's last ever concert, and this is when Ravi abducts and forcibly marries her. After the marriage, Ravi is arrested and produced in Court where the truth finally materializes that Ravi and Bharti had conspired together in order to overturn Ravi's death penalty to life imprisonment. The Court is not convinced and upholds Ravi's death penalty. Watch what impact this has on Ravi, his widowed mother, his former lover, Kalpana, and on Bharti herself.

Plot: Satyavati lives a poor lifestyle along with her widower dad in Sonarpur, and is a devotee of Devi Maa Santoshi, (the daughter of Bhagwan Shri Ganesh, who had created her so that his two sons could have a sister to tie a Raakhee on their wrists on Raksabandhan). While returning home one day, Satyavati is molested by Banke, and she is rescued by Birajram, who lives in Mirpur, along with his widowed mom, six elder brothers, and their respective wives and children. Both Satyavati and Birajram fall in love, and with the approval of their respective families, get married. After moving in with Birajram, Satyavati finds out that her husband is referred to as the slacker, is fed leftovers, and is abused and ill-treated by everyone save for his mother and eldest brother, Dayaram. When Birajram finds out that he is being fed leftovers, he leaves, boards a boat, which capsizes and he allegedly drowns, leaving Satyavati at the mercy of her uncaring mother-in-law, two cruel sister-in-laws, while she refuses to believe her husband is dead, also refuses to behave like a widow, and steadfastly starts sixteen weeks of fasting and devotion to appease Devi Maa Santoshi - little knowing that her very own plight is due to three jealous Devi Maa's' - Gauri, Lakshmi, and Parvati - the spouses of Bhagwan Shri Brahmaji, Vishnuji, and Shivji - and there is no power on Earth that can save her from their wrath.

Plot: This movie revolves around a village hospital that was built by a generous hearted man, Choudhury Ramprasad (Ashok Kumar) who is also a patient in the hospital. The other patients include Isamil (Iftekhar), Dayaram (Anwar Hussain), Ratan (Jalal Agha), and the doctor is Dr. Sunil (Sunil Dutt). Amongst the patient is a singer (Deb Mukherji), who loves Shyama (Farida Jalal) a worker in the hospital. When Meeta Sharma (Waheeda Rehman) comes to the hospital to admit her son, she meets Sunil and their romance is rekindled. In the background of the hospital atmosphere is an election in the village, which is proceeding smoothly, but causing a disturbance is Ramprasad's son (Ramesh Deo). Plot: Chaudhary Shambhunath (Balraj Sahni) considers the accumulation of wealth to be more important than education. Unable to read the poetry her husband loves and being a rotten cook too, she becomes despised by her husband and her in-laws. Circumstances conspire to leave her homeless, husbandless and pregnant. Narrowly escaping from the attentions of a panderer she falls amongst friends and, with the birth of her daughter, she starts on the long road to redemption. An entertaining plea for education in general and for the education of girls in particular.

Plot: Unusually violent film for its time advocating widow's right to remarry. The crooked Daulatram (Jamsehdji) sells his daughter Chandramukhi (Dulari) in marriage to Banwarlal. Distraught, her mother commits suicide. Banwarlal is poisoned by his nephew who fears the new wife might produce an heir, and Chandramukhi is forced into prostitution. Her father, now a beggar, chances to see his daughter in this condition and he too commits suicide. The nephew then kills Chandramukhi's brother Dayaram (Kader) in an argument and Chandramukhi is arrested for murder. The sorry tale ends happily when the good lawyer Raghuvir (Ghaznavi), Charamukhi's original suitor, rescues her in court. The film ends with debates for and against widow remarriage and with Raghuvir marrying Chandramukhi.
