Schenna
Schenna (Italian: Scena) is a comune (municipality) in South Tyrol in northern Italy, located about 25 kilometres (16 mi) northwest of the city of Bolzano.
Geography
As of 30 November 2010, it had a population of 2,841 and an area of 48.2 square kilometres (18.6 sq mi).
Schenna borders the following municipalities: Hafling, Kuens, Merano, Riffian, St. Leonhard in Passeier, Sarntal, and Tirol.
Frazioni
The municipality contains the frazioni (subdivisions, mainly villages and hamlets) Schennaberg (Montescena), Tall (Valle), and Verdins.
History
Origin
In the Middle Ages an important castle was built. Archduke Johann of Austria acquired it in 1845. In the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s many festivals took place inside it, but now, for health and safety reasons (since there was no emergency exit) there are no more.
Inside the castle, known as "Schloss Schenna" Andreas Hofer's cot is to be found.
Place-name
"Schenna" comes from the German "Schön Au" meaning "Lovely Pasture" which is why it used to be written "Schönna", although others say that it is named after a Roman landowner called Sconius. In the 6th-7th century people began to arrive from Bavaria and Franconia.

Begonnen hat alles damit, daß ich Reisevideos drehen will und zusätzlich zu meinem Text-Blog auch Videos anbieten möchte. Nun ist es so, daß der Kanal mit Odessa I und Berlin Moabit 21 startet. Nach Berlin muß ich nicht reisen, hier lebe ich mehr als die Hälfte des Jahres. Berliner by Birth. Aus Berlin kommen Geschichten über kleine Plätze, die mir gefallen, mein Lieblings-Italiener, mein Lieblings-Türke, wo geh ich im Tiergarten hin, wo im Humboldthain. Wo kaufe ich Schallplatten, wo Hüte. Bekannte und unbekannte Dinge. Unsere Patentiere im Zoo gehören dazu. Unkommentierte Bilder z. B. aus Kladow von der Immchenallee kommen dazu. So wie ein Blick auf das Schwarze Meer in Odessa. Impressionen. Von den Reisen gibt es auch andere Videos, was fällt mir auf, was ist aus unserer Sicht, der Reisenden, interessant. Eben nicht unbedingt die Plätze aus dem Reiseführer, aber auch. Was finde ich, sollten „meine Zuschauer“ unbedingt sehen. Mit und ohne Text. Mit und ohne Musik. Momentaufnahmen und Witziges. I spent three days in Merano (Italy - BZ), my family uses to go there every year in this period, to go visit the Merano Wine Festival, a big festival in which you can taste a huge amount of different wines from all over the world. And last but not least a brief visit to Merano's thermae, really really majestic.
