Andrea Needham was one of a small group of women who broke into a British Aerospace factory in 1996 and used hammers to disarm a warplane about to be sold to Indonesia to be to be used against civilians in occupied East Timor. Their subsequent arrest and court case effectively led to the British Arms Trade being put on trial.
Andrea will read from her recently published memoir, and participate in discussion about how lessons learned from the action can be relevant to non violent direction action campaigns today.
The event is free. Donations towards expenses welcome. The evening is part of the Off The Shelf Festival of Words, hosted by Sheffield Creative Action for Peace

Sheffield Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament has an active campaigning presence in the city, concentrating on the militarization of university campuses, Scrap Trident Campaign and the Yorkshire connection with the US Missile Defence System (at Fylingdales and Menwith Hill).
It meets on the third Wednesday of each month, except August, newcomers are welcome.

BitFIXit is a group of volunteers and professionals which has been fixing computers since 2005 on a not-for-profit basis. They pop up every Friday at Union Street co-operative co-working space. Anyone can drop in for a free diagnosis or chat about computer problems. They fix things for £20 per hour (on the spot or collect later). Sessions also on Saturdays in Burngreave.
