Robert Cannon "Robin" Hayes (born August 14, 1945) is the current chairman of the North Carolina Republican Party. For five terms from 1999 to 2009, he represented North Carolina's 8th congressional district in the House of Representatives.
Hayes was born in Concord, North Carolina and is a graduate of Duke University. He was elected to the North Carolina House of Representatives in 1992 and served two terms. He was the Republican nominee for governor in 1996, but was heavily defeated by Democratic incumbent Jim Hunt.
Hayes owns a hosiery mill in Mount Pleasant, North Carolina. His parents were Robert Griffith Hayes, Jr. (October 21, 1907 - November 12, 1998) and Mariam Winslow Cannon (January 22, 1916 - August 4, 2007), daughter of textile magnate Charles Albert Cannon (November 29, 1892 - April 2, 1971) and his wife Ruth Louise Coltrane (October 15, 1891 - December 22, 1965).
Hayes ran for Congress in 1998 after 12-term incumbent Democrat Bill Hefner announced his retirement. He narrowly defeated Democrat Mike Taylor, winning 51%-48% with a gap of only 3,400 votes. In 2000, he defeated Taylor in a rematch 55%-44%.
Plot
Yoof Projekt is a black comedy about the inner workings of youth work, the kids and the council. Shot as a mockumentary, the film centres around a youth project being filmed for the council and follows it as it becomes a pawn in a power game. Hapless Council, Hopeless Management, Hopeful teenagers and Haphazard Youth work at it's best and worst working with disenfranchised young people to 'Help them better' Yoof Projekt is a satire looking at adults' attitudes towards teenagers and young people. the film follows the exploits of Middle-brook city council employee's as the they attempt to engage the hardest to reach teenagers in their fantastic new youth project specifically designed to curb the excesses of the modern teenager. An arrogant film director is employed to capture and document every moment of the process. Hapless management have already written off the aims objectives and shockingly the outcomes. It is then left to a few disgruntled youth workers to make a success of managements wishes and work with the disenfranchised young people and 'Help them better'.
