BRTS in Ahmedabad city was judged as World's best Sustainable Transport System. It has also got awards from United Nations and Govt. of INDIA. Details of this Bus Rapid Transport System can be seen below. TIMELINE OF THE VIDEO IS AS FOLLOWS:- 1) Outer view of BRTS plus Bus Stop indicators: 00:00 2) Interior view of Non-AC BRTS: 00:49 3) Arriving at BRTS Stop- Doors Open- People get in and out: 01:36 4) Announcement inside bus: 02:05 5) Getting down at BRTS stop like Mumbai local train: 02:37 6) Interior view of AC BRTS Bus with 2 Charging points below windows: 03:19 7) AC Bus- People getting in and out of Bus: 04:07 8) Overtaking road traffic: 05:03 HERE ARE MY FINDINGS AFTER USING BRTS IN AHMEDABAD CITY. 1] It is similar or I would say quite better then Mumbai Suburban Railway. 2] When you are at BRTS bus stand, you get GPS based info about next bus arrival and also how much time left for next bus arrival displayed on digital boards.....this is similar to Mumbai Suburban train network. 3] Tickets are issued at BRTS bus stand only and it needs to be returned when you leave the BRTS bus stop at your destination. So less chances of ticket-less passengers. 4] Bus stop and Bus doors are at bit higher level so one cannot board anywhere from middle of road. He or She will have to use Specially designed platform at BRTS Bus stop. A handicapped passenger riding on wheel chair can easily enter platform and Bus without any external help. 5] Just like Mumbai local trains, all BRTS buses have automatic announcement regarding next bus stop to arrive. So even a stranger to a city can easily travel. 6] Doors in Bus and Bus stop open and close automatically without any hitches. 7] Now non-AC BRTS buses are being replaced with AC-Buses but with same non-AC rates. Even the non-AC Bus rate are cheap. 8] Now one more IMP thing is that AC BRTS buses have two charging points/sockets below each window seats....wow 9] BRTS buses are free from city traffic and one can reach their destination very quickly becoz they have their dedicated lane. 10] The digital indicators inside or outside buses work very fine without any so called technical fault.
