Co-production methods and models have been successfully used to support people with long term health conditions, in clinical shared decision making and in experience led commissioning. Ruth Dineen (Director, Co-Production Wales) explains what Co-Production is, and the difference it will make to healthcare in Wales. "The key feature of co-production is that we work together in equal and reciprical relationships so it's not the professionals coming in as experts and talking to citizens and maybe consulting them about what's the best way of going forward. It's about citizens and professionals absolutely working together, understanding that both share power and both share responsibility." 1000 Lives Improvement is a part of Public Health Wales. "The heart of co-production is the concept that patients and professionals are equal partners in understanding the health issues that someone may be concerned with and working through the solutions together. And we can take co-production right through from the 'clinical encounter', the consultation - helping people to make the decisions for themselves for their lives, what may be best for them." 1000 Lives Improvement is a part of Public Health Wales.
