Soraya (musician)
Soraya (born Soraya Raquel Lamilla Cuevas; March 11, 1969 – May 10, 2006) was a Colombian-American singer/songwriter, guitarist, arranger and record producer.
A successful Colombian music star, she had two number-one songs on Billboard's Latin Pop Airplay charts. She won a 2004 Latin Grammy Award for the self-titled album "Soraya" as "Best Album by Songwriter", which she produced, and a 2005 Latin Grammy Awards nomination for "Female Pop Vocal Album" for her album El Otro Lado de Mí (literally "The Other Side of Me"). She was the opening act for the 2005 Billboard Latin Music Awards. Her career spanned ten years, and she recorded five albums. Soraya died on May 10, 2006 following a long struggle against breast cancer.
Biography
Early life
She was born Soraya Raquel Lamilla Cuevas in Point Pleasant, New Jersey, a year after her father, mother, and brother moved to the United States from their native Colombia. The family moved back to Colombia when she was a baby, but when Soraya was eight years old, they returned to New Jersey. "Soraya" is a very common name in the Middle East, and its meaning can be translated "rich" or "princess". Soraya's maternal relatives were Lebanese Christians who emigrated from Lebanon to Colombia. Soraya's mother, Yamila Cuevas Gharib, had been a housewife in Colombia. Soraya's father, Gregorio Lamilla, worked for an exporting company in Colombia; in the U.S., life was hard for the family, so to make ends meet, he worked three or four jobs.

Princeton University presents International Arabic belly dancer Soraya with some of her live musicians from Egypt. Enjoy a glimpse of authentic and earthy Egyptian raks balady with Mohammed on keys and Sameh on tabla. This event entitled: "A night in the desert" was artfully presented by the students and staff at wonderful and generous Princeton celebrating cultural diversity. This was a private event and not open to the public presented by Princeton U. Tableaux vivant. Soraya's costume is of black and chartreuse yellow with delicate netting on the belt. The pants, sans skirt, allow the viewer to see the intricate leg work, shimmies, body anchoring and different movements more clearly. Phil Lynott
Philip Parris "Phil" Lynott (/ˈlaɪnət/; 20 August 1949 – 4 January 1986) was an Irish singer and musician. His most commercially successful group was Thin Lizzy, of which he was a founding member, the principal songwriter, lead vocalist and bassist. He later also found success as a solo artist. Growing up in Dublin in the 1960s, Lynott fronted several bands as a lead vocalist, most notably Skid Row alongside Gary Moore, before learning the bass guitar and forming Thin Lizzy in 1969. The video video was professionally filmed with multiple cameras at The Richard Stockton College of New Jersey (my Alma Mater) in the PAC (performing arts center) theater stage in front of a live audience.

Star Musician is a culturally focused talent competition, seeking the best amateur Persian singers and musicians between 15 - 40 years of age, and providing them with a unique platform to perform. It aims to be the leading talent competition for the Persian Diaspora, with dual goals of preserving the musical heritage of Iran and nurturing the growth of new singers and musicians, by exposing all forms of Persian music to a broader audience.
Our panel of distinguished judges include Persian pop icon Andy Madadian, legendary producer Farokh "Elton" Ahi, Grammy nominated guitarist Ardeshir Farah, renowned lyricist Paksima Zakipour and the highly sought after Director Siros Kerdouni.
On June 9th, 2012 after an entertainment filled evening, which included many celebrities and distinguished guests, Star Musician crowned its Season 1 Vocal and Instrumentalist winners inside the Saban Theatre in Beverly Hills, California. Sepanta Soroush of Paris, France became the Vocalist winner after performing in her unique operatic voice before a standing ovation. Yara Amir Bahonar from Tehran, Iran became the Instrumentalist winner.
Star Musician is produced by Iman Huschmand, an Iranian-American entertainment entrepreneur, who has over a decade of experience starting and running various entertainment businesses targeting the Persian diaspora.
Born and raised in Germany, Iman began his entertainment career as a Master of Ceremonies at the age of 17. Since then, he has turned that interest into a successful full-service entertainment company in the USA called Exclusively Entertainment, with headquarters in Washington DC. He has deep social and cultural ties within the Persian community in the USA and Europe.
His interest in preserving and nurturing the musical heritage of Iran, has led him to bring his academic business knowledge (Masters in Business Administration and Masters in International Management), international work experience and entrepreneurial spirit to produce Star Musician.

Towards the end of the 1970s, Lynott also embarked upon a solo career, published two books of poetry, and after Thin Lizzy disbanded, he assembled and fronted the band Grand Slam, of which he was the leader until it folded in 1985.

Growing up in Dublin in the 1960s, Lynott fronted several bands as a lead vocalist, most notably Skid Row alongside Gary Moore, before learning the bass guitar and forming Thin Lizzy in 1969. After initial success with Whiskey in the Jar, the band found strong commercial success in the mid-1970s with hits such as "The Boys Are Back in Town", "Jailbreak" and "Waiting for an Alibi", and became a popular live attraction due to the combination of Lynott's vocal and songwriting skills and the use of dual lead guitars. Towards the end of the 1970s, Lynott also embarked upon a solo career, published two books of poetry, and after Thin Lizzy disbanded, he assembled and fronted the band Grand Slam, of which he was the leader until it folded in 1985.

Sin embargo, Alí se ha obsesionado con una niña de 14 años y, para casarse con ella, pide el divorcio a Soraya, que se lo niega debido a que significaría quedar en el desamparo con sus hijos. El marido infiel se confabula entonces con el “mullah” local (Ali Pourtash) para calumniar a Soraya acusándola de adulterio y provocar su lapidación pública según la costumbre islámica. El único apoyo de Soraya es su tía Zahra (Shohreh Aghdashloo), quien hace lo que puede para desenmascarar la conspiración y salvarla, pero fracasa debido a la debilidad de carácter de Ebrahim (David Diaan), el alcalde del pueblo. Será Zahra quien, después de consumado el asesinato, revelará los hechos a Freidoune Sahebjam (Jim Caviezel), un periodista franco-iraní que pasa casualmente por la aldea y quien se encargará de darlo a conocer al mundo a través de su libro, publicado en 1994.
