Elgin Baylor Lumpkin (born October 15, 1970), better known by his stage name Ginuwine is an American singer-songwriter dancer and actor. Signed to Epic Records since the mid-1990s, Ginuwine had released a number of multi-platinum and platinum-selling albums and singles, becoming one of R&B's top artists during the late 1990s and early 2000s .
Ginuwine was born on October 15, 1970 in Washington, D.C. He is named after NBA legend Elgin Baylor, who is also a Washington native. In 1989, he graduated from Forestville High School (now known as Forestville Military Academy) in Forestville, Maryland and later graduated from Prince George's Community College in Largo, Maryland with a paralegal associate's degree. Soon afterward he broke into the music industry.
Ginuwine lost both his parents in 2000; his father committed suicide and his mother died of cancer less than a year later. Ginuwine struggled with grief and depression; he also thought of committing suicide. He received counseling by his pastor, which turned him to a more positive path.

After a successful debut album alongside his TGT group members Tyrese and Tank, it looks like Ginuwine is finally ready to come out with a solo album again. New music from Ginuwine is always great, but what makes this project even better is that Ginuwine will be linking back up with Timbaland. They had a brief reunion on “Get Involved” back in 2009, but it looks like this time it’s the real deal. A lot of people may not realize that Ginuwine hasn’t put out a solo album since “Elgin” which came out in 2011. Coming off of his 2011 "Elgin" album, his worst by far commercially, it looked like Ginuwine's career might be creeping towards the twilight. That would not have been a knock by any means, he's had a legendary career spanning nearly two decades now. But when the TGT situation fell into place and the "Three Kings" album had the impact it did, Ginuwine's career was right back on track. Ginuwine being successful is a great thing for the r&b; genre as a whole, so it's amazing to hear that he's recently signed a major label deal to release his next solo project. Coming off of his 2011 "Elgin" album, his worst by far commercially, it looked like Ginuwine's career might be creeping towards the twilight. That would not have been a knock by any means, he's had a legendary career spanning nearly two decades now. But when the TGT situation fell into place and the "Three Kings" album had the impact it did, Ginuwine's career was right back on track. Ginuwine being successful is a great thing for the r&b; genre as a whole, so it's amazing to hear that he's recently signed a major label deal to release his next solo project.
