A sling is a weapon used to fire rocks farther and harder than could be thrown by hand alone. I made this sling from bark fiber that I made into cord. The cord was then tied in such a way to produce an area in the middle with three cords. A strip of the same bark fiber was woven between these to form a pouch. A loop was tied at one end of the sling and a knot tied in the other.
To use it, the loop is slipped over the finger and the knot is held down with the thumb. A stone is placed in the pouch and the sling swung over head. At the appropriate time the sling is swung forward in a throwing action and the knot held in the hand is let go. This causes the pouch to open and the stone to fly (hopefully) towards the target.
I hadn't used a sling for eight years but the first target I set up and filmed, a potsherd on a stick at 10 m, was hit first go! Next I set up a log at 20 m and required more practice. Targets of potsherds and tiles at 10 m were set up in a clearing. Tiles on sticks at 15 m were set up in a stretch of creek. The last shots are back in the clearing at 10 m.
Learning to use the sling is difficult and practice is necessary. When aiming line up the swinging plane of the sling with the target to determine Y-axis aspect and use release timing to determine x-axis aspect. With timing (right handed) too early and the stone will got to the right, too late and it will go left. Practice to make it go at the right time. Use larger stones as they swing slower and are easier to time. Use smooth stones so they fly straight and don't cling to the pouch when released.
The advantage of the sling is that it's easy to make, portable and the ammunition (stones) are every where. The disadvantages are it's difficult to learn to use accurately, noise and movement give it away when used, it can't penetrate a target like an arrow (unless using some kind of weighted dart) and it can't be fired in thick forest. Interestingly, the sling has a range comparable to a bow. From my research, the record for the longest sling shot was 505 m and that of the bow just under 500 m. DMX (rapper)
Earl Simmons (born December 18, 1970), better known by his stage names DMX and Dark Man X, is an American rapper and actor. In 1999, DMX released his best-selling album ...And Then There Was X, which featured the hit single "Party Up (Up in Here)". He has acted in films such as Belly, Romeo Must Die, Exit Wounds, Cradle 2 the Grave, and Last Hour. In 2006, he starred in the reality television series DMX: Soul of a Man, which was primarily aired on the BET cable television network. In 2003, DMX published a book of his memoirs entitled, E.A.R.L.: The Autobiography of DMX.
Early life
DMX was born Earl Simmons in Mount Vernon, New York, the son of Arnett Simmons and Joe Barker, and was raised in Yonkers, New York. Simmons went through an abusive childhood that included stays at group homes and frequent arrests.
Music career
Career Beginnings 1991–1995
DMX began in 1988 as a beatboxer. In 1991, Gabriel Grevenstuk from The Source magazine praised DMX in his Unsigned Hype column that highlighted unsigned hip-hop artists. In 1991 he recorded his first demos, Unstoppable Force and Three Little Pigs. His stage name was a tribute to an instrument he used in the 1980s, the Oberheim DMX drum machine, and later was interpreted as "Dark Man X".

The Late Late Show
The Late Late Show, with its title often shortened to The Late Late, is an Irish chat show. It is the world's second longest-running chat show, after the American The Tonight Show. Perceived as the official flagship television programme of Ireland's public service broadcaster Raidió Teilifís Éireann (RTÉ), it is regarded as an Irish television institution (even abroad) and is broadcast live across two hours plus in front of a studio audience on Friday nights between September and May at 21.30.
Having maintained the same name and format continuously, The Late Late Show was first broadcast on Friday, 6 July 1962 at 23.20 and in colour from 1976. Originating as temporary summer filler for a niche Saturday night audience (airing at 23.30), it later moved to its current home on Friday night schedules. The format has remained largely the same throughout—dialogue, comic sketches, musical performances, discourse on topical issues. It has influenced attitudes of the populace towards approval or disapproval of its chosen topics, directed social change and helped shape Irish societal norms. It averages 650,000 viewers per episode and has consistently achieved RTÉ's highest ratings.

A sling is a weapon used to fire rocks farther and harder than could be thrown by hand alone. I made this sling from bark fiber that I made into cord. The cord was then tied in such a way to produce an area in the middle with three cords. A strip of the same bark fiber was woven between these to form a pouch. A loop was tied at one end of the sling and a knot tied in the other. To use it, the loop is slipped over the finger and the knot is held down with the thumb. A stone is placed in the pouch and the sling swung over head. At the appropriate time the sling is swung forward in a throwing action and the knot held in the hand is let go. This causes the pouch to open and the stone to fly (hopefully) towards the target. I hadn't used a sling for eight years but the first target I set up and filmed, a potsherd on a stick at 10 m, was hit first go! Next I set up a log at 20 m and required more practice. Targets of potsherds and tiles at 10 m were set up in a clearing. Tiles on sticks at 15 m were set up in a stretch of creek. The last shots are back in the clearing at 10 m. Learning to use the sling is difficult and practice is necessary. When aiming line up the swinging plane of the sling with the target to determine Y-axis aspect and use release timing to determine x-axis aspect. With timing (right handed) too early and the stone will got to the right, too late and it will go left. Practice to make it go at the right time. Use larger stones as they swing slower and are easier to time. Use smooth stones so they fly straight and don't cling to the pouch when released. The advantage of the sling is that it's easy to make, portable and the ammunition (stones) are every where. The disadvantages are it's difficult to learn to use accurately, noise and movement give it away when used, it can't penetrate a target like an arrow (unless using some kind of weighted dart) and it can't be fired in thick forest. Interestingly, the sling has a range comparable to a bow. From my research, the record for the longest sling shot was 505 m and that of the bow just under 500 m. Use larger stones as they swing slower and are easier to time. Use smooth stones so they fly straight and don't cling to the pouch when released.
The advantage of the sling is that it's easy to make, portable and the ammunition (stones) are every where. The disadvantages are it's difficult to learn to use accurately, noise and movement give it away when used, it can't penetrate a target like an arrow (unless using some kind of weighted dart) and it can't be fired in thick forest. Interestingly, the sling has a range comparable to a bow. From my research, the record for the longest sling shot was 505 m and that of the bow just under 500 m. Canibus speaks about his conflict with LL Cool J. Forget the 2016, 2017 XXL Freshmen Cypher. This Cypher will be the most legendary cypher of all time. This is a meet up of 6 up coming Rap Artists in 1997. First you have the late great Big Pun who is about to release his debut album "Capital Punishment". Next you have the Rapper Canibus who also is about to drop his debut album. The Album is called "Can-I-Bus" and this event happened in the ongoing beef with LL Cool J. Then you have DMX who is about to blow up with his 2 Albums "It's Dark and Hell Is Hot" and "Flesh of My Flesh, Blood of My Blood". Rapper Mos Def was about to release the "Black Star" Album with Talib Kweli. The other 2 didn't blow up but had the opportunity to Rap with these 4 Legends. It all began with the roundtable discussion and afterwards it turned into a freestyle rap session.

Mos Def - The second verse on Black Star's insanely dope "Redefinition" (which officially dropped in '98). I always thought this was one of Mos' best verses ever, and if he's busting it out among such exalted company I'm guessing he agrees.
DMX - The closing verse of "Ain't No Way". Hearing the acappella is a great reminder of just how unique the man's flow was. The lyrics aren't going to blow you away but no one ever rhymed like this, and on one ever will again.
John Forte - You know what's crazy? About two years after this video Forte was arrested for picking up a briefcase filled with over $1 in liquid cocaine from an airport. Now that's some real shit. Oh, and I can't find another example of him using this verse. I'm sure someone out there even rap nerderier than me will provide us with an answer.
Mic Geronimo - You know what would be ill? If I was just like, "It's well known that this verse ended up on the B-Side of Mic Geronimo's '99 single 'Look Out Below'. Unfortunately I'd actually never heard of him before this video. He's kind of ill though, in a too-many-words-per-line kind of way, and he's one of the few emcees who actually freestyles here.
Big Pun - It isn't verbatim, but several lines from this ended up on the opening verse of Pun's "The Dream Shatterer" in 1998. If you're looking for proof that Pun was one of the best ever here it is.
Canibus - This is obviously the classic "Second Round K.O.", everyone seems to react like they've never heard it before. This was actually the first time anyone heard Canibus' LL Cool J diss. "Second Round K.O." came out in '98 this video came out on december 18th 1997.

It took a while to just speak at an audible volume and I'm still working on gaining back some vocal volume and higher ranges while singing. Want really fast breakouts from your starts? Here's a quick drill that will help.
Why Do It:
Maintaining your speed from the blocks is one of the most important aspects of fast swimming. Slow down too soon and you may have already lost the race.
How to Do It:
1. Take a normal stretch cord, and shorten it by looping it around the back of the blocks. This length can be varied depending on the strength of the swimmer, and what part of the breakout you want to work on.
2. Have the swimmers do a start to test the resistance of the cord. You want the cord to work either on the initial dolphin or on the breakout. Today, we're working on the breakout, so the cord is a bit longer.
3. Do a bunch of starts, with the swimmers taking a couple strokes through the breakout, and this should be against very strong resistance.
How to Do It Really Well (the Fine Points):
You can time them, or vary which stroke you use on your breakout. Where is your shoulder when you break out, and are you popping up or creating a smooth transition to the surface? When doing this correctly, with full explosion and intensity, you should only do 5 - 10 of these. Don't keep doing them if you're not able to maintain full speed through the entire exercise.
For safety, whenever a cord is wrapped around the block or used with part of the cord out of the water, use a cord with a safety strap INSIDE the cord, or double check that nobody is behind the block. Swimmers rarely get hurt if a cord breaks because the water dissipates the energy of the snap. Bystanders or people behind the cord are generally the ones who get hurt. Be very careful.
