Mancala is a family of board games played around the world, sometimes called "sowing" games, or "count-and-capture" games, which describes the gameplay. The word mancala (منقلة) comes from the Arabic word naqala (نقلة) meaning literally "to move". No one game exists with the name mancala; the name is a classification or type of game. This word is used in Syria, Lebanon, and Egypt, but is not consistently applied to any one game.
The word mancala can also be found in the Akan. The name describes the type of games played with this instrument, not a specific game played with it. There are many variations to the game with different names.
More than 800 names of traditional mancala games are known, and almost 200 invented games have been described. However, some names denote the same game, while some names are used for more than one game.
Some of the most popular mancala games (with regard to distribution area, the numbers of players and tournaments, and publications) are:

In this video, I teach how to play Mancala--a fun, simple game with rocks and a special board with cups. (It used to be played on the ground, with little holes in the dirt.) What is it about this game that almost every kid loves it? I think it's how tactile it is. It's really soothing to touch those rocks. I also use it as a math game for grades K-2. There is some counting strategy involved when figuring out where to start. I like that mixed ages, from K to adult, can play together and have it still be a pretty fair game. This is one of my top picks for after school programs or as a family game. How to play Mancala!!!!!
Find a printable version of the Instructions here: http://megasafetyfirst.blogspot.com/p/mancala-instructions.html The goal of the game is to collect the most stones in your Mancala. Your Mancala is the big cup to your right. The game starts with four stones in each of the smaller cups. The players have to take ALL stones out of one cup and distribute one stone into each cup going counter clockwise. The only exception is that a player does not put a stone into the opponents Mancala. In case the last stone is placed into the players Mancala, the player gets another turn. In case the last stone is placed into an empty cup on the players side of the board, the player takes all stones from the opposite cup and his last placed stone and transfers them into his Mancala. The game ends when...
This is a video on how to win any Mancala game on the first turn. I play where if you drop the stones a pocket with stones in it, then you pick up those stones too and continue playing.
It must have been Moonglow,
Way up in the blue,
It must have been Moonglow,
That led me straight to you
I still hear you sayin'
Dear one hold me fast,
And I start to prayin'
Oh Lord, please let this last,
We seem to float right through the air,
Heavenly songs seem to come from everywhere,
And now when there's Moonglow,
Way up in the blue,
I always remember,
That Moonglow gave me you
That Moonglow gave me you
We seem to float right through the air,
Heavenly songs seemed to come from everywhere,
And now when there's Moonglow
Way up in the blue,
I always remember,
That Moonglow gave me you,
That Moonglow gave me you,
